With four-star CB Brody Jennings flipping his commitment from Michigan to Miami, where do the Wolverines turn to in the 2026 class in the secondary? STORY:
On Saturday afternoon, 2026 four-star cornerback Brody Jennings announced he was flipping from the Michigan Wolverines to Miami.
Jennings had been committed to Michigan for more than a year, but he always kept things relatively open with other schools, particularly schools closer to home like Miami. With his father passing away recently, it makes all the sense in the world to stay closer to home and be there with his family during an unbelievably challenging time.
As it pertains to the Wolverines, they still have four-star cornerbacks Dorian Barney and Andre Clarke committed to the class, but losing Jennings was something LaMar Morgan and company did not want to happen. However, there are other targets they will continue to recruit until signing day in December.
- Khary Adams : Despite committing to Notre Dame in June, Michigan will keep going after Adams — a Top-75 overall recruit — until he signs his letter of intent. Adams is one of the nation’s best corners and the Wolverines have invested a lot of time recruiting him. Keep the foot on the gas, and anything can happen; Morgan proved that a couple times at the end of last cycle.
- Salesi Moa : An elite athlete, Moa is a Top-50 overall player that is being recruited by Michigan to play in the secondary. It is going to be tough to pull the Utah native away from schools out west like Utah and Washington, but Moa did take an official visit to Ann Arbor the weekend of June 13. Michigan is shooting its shot as much as possible here.
- Shavar Young Jr. : Despite being committed to Clemson, Morgan and company have made this four-star a priority. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder is a versatile athlete that can play a few different spots in the secondary. Young hasn’t showed any signs of wavering, but Morgan was able to flip one former Clemson commit last year in Jordan Young, so why not make it 2-for-2?
- Blake Stewart : Another versatile defensive back, Stewart is being recruited by some of the top teams in the country, with Clemson currently holding all the predictions to land him. He’s set to commit on July 13, so it seems like Morgan would have to pull a rabbit out of his hat and work some magic to have any chance at changing his mind.
- Davon Benjamin : Another Top-50 overall prospect and a borderline five-star, Benjamin seemed like a super long shot for the longest time. However, recent reports suggest Michigan and Oregon are at the top duking it out. He took an official visit to Michigan the first weekend of June and was in Eugene a couple weeks later. I wouldn’t get your hopes up just yet, but it’s encouraging to hear the Wolverines are at least in the conversation.
You may have read all of that and thought to yourself: “Well, geez, Michigan hardly has a shot at any of these guys!”
Even if the Wolverines don’t get commitments from any of those players, here’s the silver lining: they had a hell of a haul in the secondary last cycle with five four-stars — Shamari Earls, Jordan Young, Elijah Dotson, Kainoa Winston and Jayden Sanders. With two four-stars currently committed in 2026, things could be much, much worse for Michigan.
Of course, they are going to keep trying with most of the guys above until the very end, but the Wolverines are still sitting in a great spot at both cornerback and safety for years to come with or without Jennings.
