With On3 releasing their final rankings of the 2025 class yesterday, we now have a definitive answer on where five-star QB Bryce Underwood sits across the four major recruiting sites:
The final 2025 rankings are in for all four of the major recruiting sites (247Sports, On3, ESPN, Rivals) and one thing is clear looking at these rankings — all four think five-star Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood will be really good.
Underwood, last seen on Monday showing off his cannon arm during a mid-game T-shirt toss late into the men’s basketball game, is one of the highest-ranked players to ever commit to Michigan. With as talented as he is, there’s a very real chance he starts as a true freshman, although a quarterback battle will still likely ensue with Mikey Keene.
We’ve had plenty of recent Underwood coverage, including but not limited to pieces on that quarterback battle , his projected chances to start right away , Underwood being the Gatorade Player of the Year , and an in-depth film study of what fans can expect from him.
But before you dive into those articles, let’s take a look at the final rankings in alphabetical order.
247Sports
: No. 1 overall, No. 1 QB
Whenever you see two nines in a row when looking at a 247Sports ranking, you know your school is getting a good player. Three nines typically translates to an elite, NFL-level talent. Underwood has had both ratings on 247Sports, rating as high as .9998 .
The Belleville native has been No. 1 on 247Sports’ rankings since July 2023, debuting at No. 3. On the composite rankings, Underwood is also ranked No. 1. In a scouting report, Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins compared Underwood to Vince Young, one of the best collegiate quarterbacks of this century.
ESPN
: No. 1 overall, No. 1 QB
Underwood has been at the top of ESPN’s rankings for a while now, and tied for the highest grade (out of 100) of 93 with Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell, Georgia defensive tackle Elijah Griffin and Oregon wide receiver Dakorien Moore.
Side note: what does it take to earn a 100, or even a 95 on these rankings? I’m not sure, but it sure seems like Underwood could be ranked higher given his dual-threat capabilities.
On3
: No. 1 overall, No. 1 QB
Coming in at a 99.61 rating, Underwood is the No. 1 ranked recruit in On3’s final edition of their rankings. He also, according to On3, boasts an NIL value of $2.9 million. The NIL deal Underwood got from Michigan was reportedly nearly four times that value , so On3’s NIL value may be a bit off.
NEW: Michigan QB signee Bryce Underwood is the first recruit to ever receive a 100 rating from On3

Rivals
: No. 3 overall, No. 3 QB
Rivals is the lone site not to rank Underwood first overall, with him getting the metaphorical bronze behind Russell and Ohio State quarterback Tavien St. Clair. Based on Rivals’ ranking history, Underwood has bounced between No. 2 and No. 3 since his debut on the rankings in March 2022.
It’s interesting that he was never ranked No. 1, but it makes sense given Rivals bases a ton of their rankings off which players attended their personal camps. Guess what Underwood never did as a recruit? You guessed it — attend a Rivals camp.
How good do you feel about these rankings, and what do you expect from Underwood in Year 1? Let us know in the comments.
