Here’s what each member of Michigan’s 2018 class has been up to since coming to Ann Arbor.
Under John Beilein, the Michigan basketball program consistently found a way to put great products on the court, doing everything from winning Big Ten Tournaments to reaching Final Fours. However, Beilein’s Wolverines did so differently than the Dukes and Kentuckys of the world.
Beilein’s teams were synonymous with developing talent and finding “diamonds in the rough,” not necessarily turning heads on the recruiting trail by pulling five-star after five-star.
As such, Michigan hasn’t been a destination for the prototypical “one-and-done” prospects, and many of Michigan’s prospects have had some long and winding roads since coming to Ann Arbor.
Today, we’ll be taking a look at what each member of Michigan’s 2018 recruiting class, John Beilein’s final as head coach, has been up to in recent years. Players are listed in the order they were ranked in the 247Sports composite .
SF Ignas Brazdeikis
One of Michigan’s few recent “one-and-done” prospects, Ignas “Iggy” Brazdeikis led the Wolverines in scoring (14.8 points per game) as a freshman and started all 37 games. His stats were good enough to earn him second-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media. He ultimately declared for the 2019 NBA Draft .
Brazdeikis was selected No. 47 overall by the Knicks , but never caught on as a big contributor in the association. He stayed with New York until 2021 when he was traded to the 76ers and was ultimately waived after two weeks with the team. He then played with the Orlando Wolverines — I mean Orlando Magic — on a two-way contract during the 2021-22 season.
For the 2022-23 season, Brazdeikis returned to Lithuania and played as part of a Žalgris team that won the LKL championship. He is currently playing for Olympiacos of the Greek Basketball League.
PF Brandon Johns
An East Lansing native, Brandon Johns played in 117 games in four years at Michigan. He mostly contributed off the bench with a few spot starts, averaging just 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Johns transferred to VCU for his fifth year in 2022-23 and started all 34 games for the Rams, averaging 11.6 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. After his college career, Johns joined Alba Fehérvár, a professional team in Hungary.
PG David DeJulius
DeJulius was a part of the Michigan program during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, mostly contributing off the bench. He took on a bigger role as a sophomore, averaging 7.0 points and 1.5 assists per game.
Following his sophomore season, DeJulius opted to transfer to Cincinnati, where he started in 85 games over three years. As a senior in 2021-22, he earned third-team All-AAC honors after averaging 15.9 points per game. He would earn third-team honors again in his fifth season in 2022-23.
In 2023, DeJulius began his career overseas, playing with Lavrio in Greece. He averaged 14.4 points per game before being bought out by BG Göttingen in Germany, where he remains today.
PF Colin Castleton
Castleton came to Michigan as a guy that some thought could be the next great big man under Beilein. He appeared in 44 games over two seasons at Michigan, but never really had a big role.
He wound up transferring to Florida ahead of the 2020-21 season and turned into a star for the Gators. He started 75 games in three seasons, and declared for the 2021 NBA Draft before opting to return to Florida for a fifth year in college. That year, he earned a first-team All-SEC selection from the coaches and a second-team selection from the media.
In July 2023, he signed with the South Bay Lakers, the G-League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers . He ended up appearing in 16 games with Los Angeles during the 2023-24 NBA season.
SG Adrien Nunez
Nunez appeared in 62 games over four seasons at Michigan, but never had a significant role aside from four starts and 7.5 minutes per game as a sophomore. He did earn Academic All-Big Ten honors in three straight seasons from 2020 to 2022.
Following his time at Michigan, Nunez ended up playing in only one game with the Metros of LNB in the Dominican Republic.
