The hype around the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team has skyrocketed with Yaxel Lendeborg forgoing the NBA Draft and committing to Michigan. Lendeborg, who spent his first two years at UAB, was the No. 1-ranked player in the transfer portal and represents a huge get for Michigan head coach Dusty May and the program.
With the addition of Lendeborg, the Wolverines now have the fourth-best odds of winning the National Championship next season. Lendeborg wasn’t the only big transfer addition; Michigan also landed key contributors in UNC point guard Elliot Cadeau, Illinois center Morez Johnson Jr., and UCLA center Aday Mara.
This question for this edition of SB Nation Reacts is, what’s the ceiling for the Wolverines with Lendeborg now committed to Michigan? Vote below.
The expectations are high for a Michigan program that made it to the Sweet Sixteen last season during Dusty May’s first year on the job. However, now with Lendeborg and other transfers now at Michigan with returning players such as Will Tschetter, Roddy Gayle Jr., and Nimari Burnett, this team is poised to make a legitimate run at a National Championship.
While March Madness is unpredictable, making it hard to pinpoint the ceiling for any team, a Final Four appearance doesn’t seem unrealistic with the roster Michigan has along with a good coach in May.
