With a little over a week to let the dust fall on Michigan’s 2020-21 season, it felt like a good time to take a step back and think about what we learned. The Wolverines went 23-5 (14-3), raised a Big Ten Championship banner, advanced to the Elite Eight, and finished with their best KenPom ranking in program history. In a unique COVID year, it is hard to grade Juwan Howard’s second season as anything other than a success.
In as uncertain a year as any, Juwan Howard earned Coach of the Year honors with an all-around performance that started last April — both on and off the court. Here are some thoughts on the Wolverines’ campaign, what we learned, and what it all means for the program moving forward.
