What to watch for: Transfer Portal Season

March 31, 2025 by UM Hoops

Michigan’s season ended in the Sweet Sixteen on Friday night in Atlanta, meaning it is time for the most chaotic time of the year: transfer portal season.

A year ago, Dusty May and his new staff assembled a roster in six weeks that exceeded all expectations. Now, they have to try to do the same thing, but this time, they won’t be starting from scratch.

“We’re in a very competitive market,” May said Friday night. “The growth of our program across the board, NIL, and everything, the way we operate, everything’s improved. And that’s all you could ask us, and continue moving in the right direction.”

Here’s a rundown of what to watch for and how to make sense of this year’s transfer portal season.
