Michigan’s offense has been pretty one-dimensional through its first four games of the 2024 college football season.
The Wolverines have been able to run the ball well but their passing game is still lacking. Quarterback Davis Warren has only thrown for 444 yards and two touchdowns in three games but has also thrown six interceptions.
Alex Orji, the Wolverines’ other quarterback, has only thrown for 47 yards this season but does have two touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Still, former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer doesn’t think the Wolverines will be able to get to where they want to go if they don’t improve their passing game.
“They can’t. There’s zero chance with that kind of balance,” Meyer said , (first transcribed by On3 ). “They got to play both quarterbacks. I said that when we were there. Alex Orji is good enough to play. He’s got to play. I think he’s a tremendous player. But, to answer your question: no.”
Even though the Wolverines beat the USC Trojans last Saturday, it wasn’t because of their passing game. Orji only threw for 32 yards but the Wolverines ran the ball well.
They had over 200 yards on the ground with Kalel Mullings compiling 159 of those yards and two touchdowns.
They’ll try to show improvement in the passing game when they play the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
Kickoff will be at Noon ET.
