Hester started his college career at Western Michigan in 2023, but transferred to UMass ahead of the 2024 season. As a sophomore this past season, he ran for 529 yards and four touchdowns. He also accumulated 14 receptions for 58 yards.
As a true freshman at WMU, Hester compiled 124 yards and two touchdowns on just 29 carries.
With Jordan Marshall and Justice Haynes set as Michigan’s running back duo in 2025, Hester provides quality depth and experience to the running back room following the departure of Benjamin Hall (portal) earlier this spring. Hester will compete with Micah Ka’apana and Bryson Kuzdzal for the RB3 role this fall.
Hester has two years of eligibility remaining. He joins former Missouri punter Luke Bauer as commitments this spring out of the portal.
