A dumb yearly tradition in November has somehow made its way to March.
The lead up to The Game in November between the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes is usually filled with a ton of smack talk. And rightfully so — it’s one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports and is always one of the most watched games of the season.
But one of the dumbest things Michigan fans are reminded of each November is the Buckeyes crossing out every “M” on their campus, on social media, pretty much every M ever. Well, according to Reddit (photos compiled by Barstool Michigan below), UC San Diego is following in Ohio State’s footsteps ahead of the NCAA Tournament by crossing out all the M’s on their campus.

One Reddit user explained why they are doing it: “UC San Diego just completed its transition to a Division 1 sports school, and in our first eligible season we became the champions of our conference, The Big West. This earned us a spot in the NCAA Division 1 tournament AKA March Madness.
“(Sunday), it was revealed that we’re going up against Michigan in our first game, so we’re covering up all the Ms on campus to show our support for the Tritons!”
Another Reddit user (here ) also crossed out the “M” in Michigan, but seemingly left out the “M” in “game.” They really are taking after Ohio State fans.
The Tritons are channeling their inner Buckeye, which means they are going to talk a lot of shit and probably lose a game they didn’t think they’d lose. Shoutout Jack Sawyer who, if you didn’t know, went 0-4 against Michigan.
We’ll see who gets the last laugh later tonight, as Michigan vs UC San Diego tips off around 10 p.m. ET on TBS.
