Michigan commitment Trey McKenney was named Michigan Mr. Basketball today .
The top-25 recruit has had a productive prep career, both individually and with his Orchard Lake St. Mary’s program. He’s now earned Mr. Basketball, been named a McDonald’s All-American and represented Team USA while winning a gold medal at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup. OLSM also won the state title last year, when McKenney finished with 32 points and ten boards.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound guard averages 22.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game as a senior.
McKenney tallied 4,897 voting points; runner-up Leroy Blyden (U-D Jesuit) had 2,019. Ann Arbor Huron’s Macari Moore had 1,975 points and Detroit Renaissance’s Lance Stone talleid 1,711. McKenney received 8772 of 1178 first-place votes.
This is the second consecutive year that Michigan signed Mr. Basketball from the state. Other recent winners who attended Michigan include Phat Phat Brooks (2024), Isaiah Livers (2017), Manny Harris (2007) and Dion Harris (2003).
McKenney is one of three commitments in Michigan’s 2025 class, joining four-star wing Winters Grady and New Zealand native Oscar Goodman, who enrolled early in January.
