The Wolverines have even more assistance coming to their secondary.
He alluded to it before even announcing his commitment on Instagram by saying “DB @umichfootball” in his bio, but now it’s official — former Tennessee safety Wesley Walker has committed to the Michigan Wolverines , he announced on Friday morning.

Walker is the second member of the secondary to commit to Michigan in the last two days, joining former Albany cornerback Aamir Hall .
A college football journeyman, Walker has five seasons of experience across (technically) three programs. He started his career in 2019 at Georgia Tech , transferred to Tennessee in 2022, and then briefly transferred to Louisville this offseason before hopping back in the portal to eventually wind up at Michigan.
The past two seasons have been pretty successful for Walker in the SEC. In 2022, he racked up 36 tackles, one sack, one interception and four pass breakups. He followed that up this past season with 53 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and two pass breakups. Additionally, per PFF, he allowed zero touchdowns on 349 coverage snaps in 2023.

After the Rod Moore injury this spring, Michigan was in need of another body in the safety room to help compete. The Wolverines still have Makari Paige and Quinten Johnson at the position, but the guys behind them — Brandyn Hillman, Zeke Berry, etc. — don’t have a ton of experience.
Luckily, Walker has plenty of experience, so he should be a valuable asset to the Michigan defense this fall and help guide along the other players on the roster.
The upcoming season will be Walker’s final year of college eligibility.
