Michigan hoops has a new commit! Here’s what you need to know about SF Patrick Liburd.
Patrick Liburd, a three-star small forward in the 2025 class, announced his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines on Instagram on Friday afternoon.
Liburd is rated 56th in his class at his position on 247Sports. He was initially committed to Coastal Carolina, but decommitted on May 7. Liburd is the fourth incoming freshman to commit to Michigan, joining five-star local product Trey McKenney, four-star Winters Grady and four-star Oscar Goodman.
Listed at 6-foot-6 and a hair under 200 pounds, Liburd has led Sagemont Prep to three consecutive state titles. He has a silky smooth jump shot, with a quick and high release, something young players struggle to execute at times. He’s a good cutter who can finish in traffic as well. You’d like to see him add some more weight and get more crafty as a scorer but the pieces are there for him to develop into an effective wing.
May is typically a quiet month in the college basketball world, but when it comes to the recruiting world, Dusty May tends to move in the shadows before good news like this comes. Heading into the weekend, 11 or 12 scholarships are accounted for, depending on Yaxel Lendeborg’s NBA decision. Michigan can have 13-15 scholarships, depending on how much NIL it wants to allocate, but based on the current roster layout, Liburd doesn’t have to play right away.
We’ll have more on Liburd’s game and his potential Michigan impact in the coming days, but for now, big props to May for landing a guy this late in the cycle.
