The Big Ten schedule is light this week, but the Wolverines battle Florida on Tuesday.
The Michigan Wolverines got back on the court on Saturday and got an easy 83-66 win over Eastern Michigan. Head coach Juwan Howard was back in charge for the first time this year.
The play on the court was good enough to take down the Eagles and the Wolverines won for the second time in a row. It was the first time they had won consecutive games since opening the season with three straight wins.
The Wolverines now sit at 6-5 on the season as they get ready for Florida on Tuesday in the Jumpman Invitational at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is the second year for the invitational, that also includes North Carolina and Oklahoma.
The Gators will be coming into Tuesday on a three-game winning streak and at 7-3 on the season. Their three losses have come against Virginia, Baylor and Wake Forest . They do have a couple of big wins, though, as they have taken down Florida State and Pitt.
They are extremely balanced, with four players averaging double figures, led by Walter Clayton Jr. who is scoring 16.5 points per game. They don’t shoot the ball particularly well, as they are hitting 45.5 percent of their shots from the field and just 32.1 percent from deep.
The Wolverines and Gators highlight the week for the Big Ten, but lets take a look at other top games in the conference.
Rest of the Big Ten
A couple of rivals have easy games to start the week as Michigan State , which is coming off a huge victory over Baylor, gets Oakland at home on Monday night. On Tuesday night, Indiana, which nearly upset Kansas at home, gets Morehead State in a get right game.
Wednesday night has a couple of games to pay attention to, as Iowa takes on UMBC at home, while Northwestern heads to Phoenix to take on Arizona State and former Michigan Wolverine Frankie Collins.
Thursday night’s slate is weak, but Friday has two marquee matchups with Illinois at Missouri, and Maryland at UCLA. Wisconsin also hosts Chicago State, as the Badgers try to make sure they don’t fall victim to the Cougars like Northwestern did last week.
The Big Ten only has one game over the weekend, as Rutgers welcomes Mississippi State to town on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights are 7-3 on the season, but are just 2-2 against major conference opponents.
