Michigan Wolverines star freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood made his highly-anticipated debut in a maize and blue uniform on Saturday at the yearly spring game.

Following an up-and-down overall performance, Underwood capped off the game with an 88-yard trick-play touchdown pass to tight end Jalen Hoffman as time expired.

It certainly wasn’t a perfect debut, as Underwood struggled with consistency, but he showed plenty of flashes that proved why he was the top rated recruit in the 2025 class.

Even though he will continue to go through growing pains as a freshman, Underwood has elite athleticism and arm talent that make him a shoo-in to win the starting job.

Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood showed glimpses of the growing pains he will likely experience as a freshman and flashes of the promise that made him the nation’s top-rated high school football recruit in the team’s spring game on Saturday. https://t.co/E83Gm6NDlQ

In front of more than 40,000 fans at Michigan Stadium, Underwood finished 13-for-26 for 187 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Michigan fans should be relatively happy with how Underwood played, but he will need to improve as he committed two delay of games and missed a wide-open touchdown.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore recently said the team won’t announce a starter until the week of the first game, but Underwood appears to be the favorite.
