
Michigan players are getting recognition for some stellar play on the diamond.
The regular season slate of the 2024 Big Ten baseball season has concluded, while the Big Ten Tournament plays out this week. With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the conference announced its All-Big Ten selections for 2024 .
With Michigan finishing in a tie for fourth-place in the conference, it’s no surprise to see several Wolverines earn All-Big Ten honors, six in total. Three players were even named first-team All-Big Ten for their efforts.
In his first and only season in Ann Arbor, outfielder Stephen Hrustich swung a hot bat all year on his way to a first-team All-Big Ten selection. Hrustich led Michigan in OPS (1.063) and home runs (15), proving to a be a force in the middle of the lineup.
Sophomore Mitch Voit was also named to the first-team. Voit had a .280 batting average and .892 OPS with 11 homers. He also contributed on the mound by tossing 62.1 innings, the third-most on the team.
Fifth-year senior Jacob Denner was the third Wolverine to earn first-team honors. Denner was going to be relied on all year to be the innings eater for Michigan, and he impressed in 76 innings pitched. He finished the year with a 3.91 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 57 strikeouts.
Second baseman Mack Timbrook and pitcher Kurt Barr were named as third-team selections. Timbrook was Michigan’s leader in batting average (.306) while playing some solid defense up the middle. Barr ended up being Michigan’s leader in innings pitched with 79.1, while also having a 3.52 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.
Additionally, designated hitter and first baseman Collin Priest was named to the conference’s All-Freshman team. Priest was second on the team in OPS (1.039) and was tied for second in homers with 11. He looks to be a formidable piece in Michigan’s lineup for the next few seasons.
Finally, senior utility man Dylan Stanton was named as Michigan’s sportsmanship honoree for the year. Stanton finished the year with a .246 batting average and .725 OPS.
Michigan’s three first-team All-Big Ten selections were the most of all the schools in the conference this year. The season continues this week in the Big Ten Tournament, where the Wolverines will play Iowa on Wednesday in pursuit of a bid in the NCAA Tournament.
