Michigan got humbled by Texas on Saturday in a showdown between two of the top teams in the country.
Texas went into Ann Arbor and showed that it’s for real this season with a convincing 31-12 win. Texas is now the No. 2 team in the latest AP Top 25 poll while Michigan fell to No. 17.
This was Michigan’s first loss in well over a year but despite that, head coach Sherrone Moore feels his program isn’t that far off from being as good as Texas.
“I think for us, it’s they executed very cleanly,” Moore said, via On3 . “All the credit to them and what they did and how they played. So, I’m not going to take anything away from them. But, for us, we know that the turnovers, the third down margin, you take those two things, and it gives us a much better chance to be successful. So we know where we’re at. We know what we got to do. And it was a good lesson for us to learn.”
Michigan’s schedule gets a bit easier this week with a game against Arkansas State before hosting No. 11 USC on September 21.
Both games will take place in Ann Arbor, with the former starting at noon ET and the latter at 3:30 p.m. ET.
