Sherrone Moore Makes Quarterback Decision After Michigan’s Loss To Washington

October 7, 2024 by The Spun

Michigan’s NCAA Football Cheating Scandal Explained (1:20)

Michigan has been searching for answers at the quarterback position over the first six weeks, but Sherrone Moore appears to have found his guy.

The Wolverines head coach turned to his third different signal-caller this season in Michigan’s 27-17 loss to Washington — with senior QB Jack Tuttle leading the offense for most of the game.

After the contest, Moore praised Tuttle for his effort and seemed to co-sign him as Big Blue’s QB1.

“I think we’ll see,” the coach said . “We’ll watch the film. Feel good about the way he played. Feel good about what he did. So, right now, if we had to play tomorrow, I’d say Tuttle would be the starting quarterback. Want to build stuff for us to be successful with him and us to be successful with Donovan [Edwards] and Kalel [Mullings] and the rest of our guys. So, feel like he gives us a great chance to win and we’ll just clean up the turnovers and go from there.”

Alex Orji and the UM offense struggled to move the ball early but when Moore decided to insert Tuttle in the lineup, the San Marcos, CA native led the Wolverines on three straight scoring drives.

Ultimately, Michigan didn’t do enough to get the win. However, there seemed to be a bit of a spark when Tuttle took the field.

The reigning national champions currently sit at 4-2 with some tough tests still remaining on the schedule.

Maybe having Tuttle behind center will help the Wolverines find their identity over the next few weeks.
