Sherrone Moore momentarily addressed his implication in Michigan’s alleged sign-stealing operation.
According to a draft of the NCAA’s notice of allegations, Moore faces a Level II violation for allegedly deleting 52 text messages exchanged with former Michigan football staffer Connor Stalions. The draft charged Stalions with a more severe Level I violation for allegedly orchestrating an effort to impermissibly scout future opponents in person.
Via TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome , Moore said he’s fully cooperating with the NCAA’s investigation. He isn’t worried about those deleted texts becoming public.
“All I can say is I look forward to them being released,” Moore said.
Stalions resigned as the scandal surfaced during the 2023 season. He’ll break his silence on the topic in a Netflix documentary released later this month.
Meanwhile, Jim Harbaugh is also expected to receive a Level I charge in this case. The NCAA recently gave Michigan’s former head coach a four-year show-cause for separate recruiting violations during the COVID-19 dead period.
Moore also said Tuesday that Harbaugh will no longer serve as the honorary captain for Michigan’s season-opening game against Fresno State. His parents, Jack and Jackie Harbaugh, will take his spot so the head coach can stay “in the foxhole” with the Los Angeles Chargers.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Moore could face punishment from the NCAA. He later speculated that the 38-year-old would receive no more than a short suspension.
