Roman Wilson is one of the top wide receivers heading into next week’s NFL Draft.
He had a tremendous collegiate career at Michigan and is ready to take his talents to the next level.
This week, we caught up with Wilson to get his thoughts on his partnership with Six Star Pro Nutrition, his mindset heading into the draft, his favorite Jim Harbaugh story, and so much more.
The Spun: Can you tell me a bit more about your partnership with Six Star Pro Nutrition?
Roman Wilson: Partnering with Six Star, they help me a lot, trying to keep up my nutrition, my protein. It’s been easy for me to get a lift in and grab a drink, something to go. I don’t have to blend anything up and for me, I really loved fruit loops growing up so it’s a really good collaboration for me.
The Spun: What’s your mindset heading into the 2024 NFL Draft?
Wilson: For me, it’s been staying on top of football, making sure I’m watching film, studying plays, trying to be the best receiver I can be, trying to improve my draft stock as much as I can do, and just relaxing and enjoying the experience. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime journey I get to go on and I get to embrace it.
The Spun: What’s your favorite Jim Harbaugh story as a former player of his?
Wilson: I’ve been thinking about this one where he, coming from Hawaii, he asked me if I knew how to build a treehouse. He was kinda like trying to get me to come over to his house and help him build a treehouse and I was like, I don’t know how to do any of that. I don’t wanna be responsible for anything breaking or someone getting hurt, so that was a funny one. He actually has a treehouse in his house now and looking back at it, I wish I would’ve helped build it but it was too late.
The Spun: What was Sherrone Moore like as an OC/interim head coach, and how do you think he’ll handle being “the” guy?
Wilson: I think he’ll handle it great. He was a great position coach, a great OC, and a great temporary head coach. I think he’s going to be a great coach. He’s very smart. He knows how to talk and connect with players very well. Even now when I see him, we’re just joking around and having a good time, and when it’s time to lock in on the field, that always comes naturally too.
The Spun: Where do you see J.J. McCarthy getting picked in next week’s draft?
Wilson: I think the latest he’ll go is probably six. I don’t really talk too much about the process with him but I’m sure every time he gets in a meeting with a coach they’re probably falling in love with him. He’s a great dude to have around. Phenomenal athlete. He just checks every single box. I don’t see how a coach could want to pass on him.
The Spun: Who was the top cornerback that you went up against during your time at Michigan?
Wilson: Besides practice, Mike Sainristil and Will Johnson are probably the best guys I went up against. I think Terrion Arnold (Alabama) is probably up there, too. He’s a great athlete, a phenomenal dude, and I got to work out with him in the offseason so, he’s a great guy.
The Spun: What was your favorite part about beating Ohio State?
Wilson: Probably never losing to them. That’s probably the best part.
Wilson helped Michigan win the 2024 College Football National Championship this past season, finishing with 48 receptions for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The 2024 NFL Draft will begin next Thursday (Apr. 25) at 8 p.m. ET.
