A pair of NFL teams could reportedly be looking to move up in next week’s draft to select Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler : “Multiple teams believe Minnesota or Denver could be trade-up options for [J.J.] McCarthy, who’s considered a good fit in both places.”
Both the Vikings and Broncos have expressed how much they would be interested in drafting McCarthy, with reports surfacing that head coach Sean Payton is “quite enamored ” with the Wolverines’ national champion.
Minnesota appears to be the in the best position to potentially make a move for McCarthy given its two first-round picks (Nos. 11 and 23) following last month’s trade with the Houston Texans.
And it’s also possible the Patriots who are sitting at three could be trying to drive up the price to trade back by floating how much they love McCarthy.
With that said, they could be looking at another former Michigan QB who was a little physically underwhelming, split time, won a lot of games and a national title and see Tom Brady 2.0.
We won’t know for certain until draft day arrives on April 25. But clearly there are a lot of teams intrigued by what McCarthy could bring to their franchise.
