According to @EJHollandOn3, Michigan is making a big NIL push for one of the nation’s top offensive tackles, 2025 five-star Alabama commit Ty Haywood:
Despite what some fans may think, the Michigan Wolverines aren’t funneling all of their NIL money toward 2025 five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood .
According to a report from On3’s EJ Holland ($) on Wednesday afternoon, Sherrone Moore and company are making one final NIL push at five-star offensive lineman Ty Haywood , who is currently committed to Alabama.
Additionally, Holland wrote that Haywood was expected to make a “surprise” visit this weekend for the game against Northwestern, but he won’t be able to make it due to having a high school playoff game that day.
Michigan offered Haywood — who is the No. 20 overall prospect in the country and has been committed to Alabama since July — back in February. The Wolverines never really got anywhere in his recruitment, as his final list did not include Michigan. He also has never taken a visit to Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines are pushing for one more offensive lineman in the 2025 class to pair up with five-star Andrew Babalola, four-star Avery Gach and three-star Kaden Strayhorn. They tried with Nolan Davenport, but he is rock solid with his commitment to Wisconsin. They are also trying with Washington commit Zac Stascausky, who is expected to visit this weekend, but he has recently received predictions to flip to Oregon.
If Holland’s report is true — which we have no reason to believe isn’t — and Haywood was indeed going to visit this weekend before his high school team advanced in the playoffs, it doesn’t seem like such a long shot for Haywood to flip from Bama. It will be interesting to see if the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder from Denton, Texas makes a mid-week visit to Ann Arbor prior to the early signing period opening on Dec. 4. If he does, all bets are off and Michigan will be a huge threat to flip him.
Alabama flipped four-star safety Ivan Taylor from Michigan earlier this week, so Michigan fans should be excited to see the Wolverines making a huge run at one of the top offensive linemen in the country, who just so happens to be committed to the Tide.
