Michigan football reportedly suffered a significant personnel loss during Sunday’s spring practice in Ann Arbor.
According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Wolverines safety Rod Moore suffered a torn ACL , which would presumably put his 2024 season in doubt.
Rivals.com’s Josh Henschke also confirmed the injury , which he described as “non-contact.” Michigan fears ACL/MCL damage for Moore, Henschke said.
A native of Clayton, Ohio, the 6-foot, 198-pound Moore has been a three-year starter for Michigan. He was a third-team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches in 2023.
In 12 games last season, Moore logged 38 total tackles and a pair of interceptions, including the game-clinching one in Michigan’s regular season finale against archrival Ohio State.
“I was telling myself, and I told everybody, ‘Somebody has to make the play,'” Moore said about the interception after the game. “The season was on the line, everything that we talked about before the season was on the line.”
Moore broke out in 2022 when he recorded 71 total tackles, four interceptions and seven passes defensed in 14 games. For his career, he has 141 total tackles, six interceptions, 13 passes defensed and 0.5 sacks.
Had Moore entered the 2024 NFL Draft, he would have heard his name called, so his decision to return to Michigan was met with fanfare from Wolverines fans.
Hopefully he’ll be able to make a full and speedy recovery.
