To the surprise of absolutely no one, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is being linked to an NFL job opening this winter.
According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report , the Chargers have interest in making Harbaugh their next head coach.
“It’s unclear if the feeling is mutual, as Harbaugh gets set to coach the Wolverines in their third consecutive College Football Playoff appearance,” Schultz added.
The Chargers fired Brandon Staley after an embarrassing loss to the Raiders on “Thursday Night Football.” Team owner Dean Spanos made it clear last Friday that he’s not willing to settle for mediocrity.
“We are clearly not where we expect to be, however, and we need new vision. Doing nothing in the name of continuity was not a risk I was willing to take,” Spanos said. “Our fans have stood strong though so many ups and downs and close games. They deserve more. Frankly, they’ve earned more. Building and maintaining a championship-caliber program remains our ultimate goal. And reimagining how we achieve that goal begins today.”

It’s worth noting that Harbaugh is apparently a big fan of Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert .
“We just got into a conversation. This had nothing to do with anything, in no way were we talking about him leaving Michigan. We were just talking about quarterback play, and he was raving about Justin Herbert,” ESPN’s Mike Greenberg said.
If Harbaugh is willing to move on from Michigan, it would make sense for him to pursue the Chargers job.
