Per a report from On3, former Indiana WR Donaven McCulley will be visiting Michigan this weekend after the game in Columbus:
After making initial contact last month, the Michigan Wolverines will soon be seeing a top target at a dire position of need in the transfer portal.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos , the Wolverines will be hosting former Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCulley this weekend. The visit will begin when the Wolverines get back from their game in Columbus.
McCulley actually entered the portal last winter, but opted to stay at Indiana. He re-entered the portal in October after recording just two catches for 21 yards and one touchdown this season. The Wolverines offered him last December before he exited the portal, and then reached out once again when he entered the portal this year.
In 2023, McCulley caught 48 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns, earning All-Big Ten honorable mention from both the coaches and the media.
Other schools that have made contact with McCulley this time around include Alabama, Michigan State , Colorado, Virginia Tech , Maryland, Baylor, Cincinnati and more.
The Wolverines need major help at the wide receiver position heading into the 2025 season. The leading wide receiver for Michigan this year is Tyler Morris, who has 22 catches for 234 yards and two touchdowns. With Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson in the pros, no one ever stepped up at the wide receiver position this year, so it is crucial Michigan gets a couple guys in the portal this offseason.
The transfer portal officially opens for business on Dec. 9, so we will know a lot more about Michigan’s plans for the 2025 season in the weeks to come.
