The #Michigan Wolverines aren’t only trying to flip five-star QB Bryce Underwood in the 2025 class. Here are the other top recruits they are trying to flip prior to the December signing period:
Being able to flip talented recruits is a telltale sign of good recruiting. Not only do you convince young athletes to come to your school, you also take a player another program was counting on off their board, weakening rivals and top schools across the country.
The Michigan Wolverines were able to do that last week when they convinced 2025 three-star defensive lineman Benny Patterson to flip from Cincinnati, and four-star cornerback Shamari Earls to flip from Georgia . They are trying to flip several other recruits, with No. 1 2025 recruit — five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood — grabbing all the headlines.
For today, though, let’s talk about where Michigan stands with some other flip targets.
Four-star WR Derek Meadows
(LSU)
Meadows has been committed to Brian Kelly and the Tigers since July, taking an official visit to Michigan about a week before that. Michigan wide receiver commit Andrew Marsh — the fourth-highest-ranked commit for the Wolverines, recently said he’d love to play with both Earls and Meadows.
“Definitely gotta have my guy (Earls),” Marsh said. “We’ve been talking behind the scenes so he know how I feel about him. Like you said, I was over watching Bryce (Underwood) last night. That’s definitely another guy I would love to have join us. Derek Meadows would be a great pick up for us, too, I feel like that would really help us. Really, those are my top three.”
Adding Meadows will be a challenge, but he did just visit this past weekend for the Oregon game. And getting him would be much easier if Underwood flips to Michigan. Meadows would give U-M two top-100 wide receivers — as well as four-star Jacob Washington — in the class, which would be a huge win for a school that’s been historically run-heavy.
Four-star LB Bradley Gompers
(Duke)
The push for Gompers has really come in the last few weeks. He announced his offer a few weeks back and visited for the MSU game . Gompers has soared up the rankings, debuting in the low 900s to now being ranked 269th overall in his class. Linebacker is a spot that Michigan could use more of in the class, with their only current commit being three-star Chase Taylor.
Four-star DB Elijah Dotson
(Pitt)
Dotson, a teammate of Underwood’s at Belleville High School, has been committed to Pitt since May, but was heavily linked to Michigan before that. He was in town to see an electric Big House crowd in the Battle for the Paul Bunyan trophy.
“Great atmosphere!” Dotson told On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($). “Team balled out! They’ve been showing a lot of interest and obviously it’s a great program. I have a chance to play early and they’re one of the best academically and athletically.”
Dotson also came back for his official visit this past weekend, and On3’s EJ Holland put in a prediction for Michigan to land him. If he flips, he would join Ivan Taylor in the safety room in Michigan’s 2025 class. And landing him could help sway his highly-ranked teammate as well.
Four-star DB Alex Graham
(Colorado)
Graham committed to Deion Sanders and Colorado after putting Michigan in his top-seven . Michigan has been trying to sway the Cass Tech corner for a while now, with Graham visiting recently for the MSU game and the Oregon game.
If he flips, he’d be the fourth corner to commit to Michigan, behind four-stars Shamari Earls, Jayden Sanders and Kainoa Winston. You can never have too many members of the secondary, so hopefully Morgan can land him or some of the other corners left on the board.
Four-star CB Brandon Finney
(Oregon)
Speaking of other corner targets, Finney is among the highest ranked of the bunch at No. 57 overall on the composite. He’s been committed to the Ducks since June, but he’s taken other trips since then, including to Ann Arbor back in September. Penn State may be the leader for the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder from Maryland, but Morgan is making a huge effort to pair Finney up with the other defensive backs already committed to the Wolverines.
Three-star WR Jamar Browder
(NC State)
Browder has been an NC State commit since June, but just recently got his offer from the Wolverines. He was on campus for his official visit this past weekend for the Oregon game, and a couple Crystal Balls are now favoring Michigan. He originally intended to visit Missouri this weekend, but that has reportedly been canceled. Good news may be coming Michigan’s way soon.
Three-star DL Quante Gillians
(Syracuse)
Like many of the players on this list, Gillians was in Ann Arbor for the MSU game.
“They are in the same conversation as Syracuse,” Gillians told On3’s EJ Holland ($) after the visit. “They are 1 and 1. I want to decide some time mid-to-late November. My top three are still Michigan, Michigan State and Syracuse. But Michigan and Syracuse are in the driver’s seat.”
Additional intel coming from 247Sports indicates that Michigan may be at the very top for Gillians. No predictions have been cast as of now, but it wouldn’t surprise to see him end up eventually committing to Michigan.
