The Wolverines could gain some major recruiting momentum this month during these official visits.
Welcome to official visit season! This weekend marks the first of four straight weekends that college football programs across the country will host prospects from the 2025 class on official visits. Then, a dead period for most of July awaits.
In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we’ll discuss a few more players locked into officially visiting Ann Arbor in June, including one planning to be in town this weekend. Let’s get into it!
Top-100 overall OL set to visit this weekend
According to On3’s Zach Libby ($), 2025 four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu will be making his official visit to Michigan this weekend.
Utu — a 6-foot-5, 300-pounder who plays at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas — was most recently in Ann Arbor in March for a spring practice visit. Libby also reported that he’s coming off a visit to Washington, and will officially visit Alabama next weekend.
The first weekend is usually the tone-setter for the rest of the official visits. Not many other top targets are visiting this weekend other than four-star safety Kainoa Winston. Regardless, it’s good he’s getting to Ann Arbor at any point in June.
Utu is ranked No. 65 overall on 247Sports’ composite. I’m sure we’ll have more on his visit following his weekend at Michigan.
Another top-100 overall OL plans official visit
As first reported by On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($), the Michigan Wolverines will host 2025 four-star offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli on an official visit the weekend of June 7.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder also plays at Bishop Gorman alongside the aforementioned Utu. A top-100 overall prospect in his own right (No. 76 overall), the Wolverines are making him a major priority.
“I’m pretty excited to see how the changes apply with some of the new coaching staff since the last time I was there,” Alofaituli said.
The last time he was in Ann Arbor wasn’t too long ago — back in November for The Game — but as he alluded to, there have been some major changes on the coaching staff since he was last on campus. But one of the constants in his recruitment just so happens to now be the head coach.
“Coach Moore has always shown me love, like other colleges,” Alofaituli said. “And the culture at Michigan is nothing short of amazing.”
The Wolverines are going up against schools like Miami, Nebraska and Washington for Alofaituli’s commitment, according to Wiltfong. He also holds offers from Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M , Oklahoma, USC, Penn State and more.
Top OL target coming in for Victors Weekend
The biggest recruiting weekend of the month of June for the Wolverines is set for June 21. Deemed “Victors Weekend,” this is the weekend where a bulk of Michigan’s top targets come to town and all mingle with each other. Odds are that if a prospect is visiting the weekend of June 21, they are a major target for the Wolverines.
Hardy Watts , a 2025 four-star offensive lineman, confirmed with The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($) that he will indeed be officially visiting Ann Arbor the weekend of June 21. And this won’t be the first time he’s been on campus this year alone, as he also visited this spring and caught a practice.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Watts said of his upcoming visit. “It’s going to be a great weekend. Looking forward to spending more time on campus and with coaches and players.”
At 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, Watts is among Moore and Grant Newsome’s top overall targets along the offensive line in this class. He is a flexible player, with the ability to play both guard and tackle, although he primarily plays tackle at Dexter Southfield School in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Along with his trip to Michigan, Watts is also set to officially visit Clemson from June 2-4, as well as Wisconsin (June 7), Duke (June 14) and Boston College (to be determined date).
Watts is ranked the No. 228 overall player in his class, according to 247Sports’ composite.
