Recruiting Roundup: Two Michigan targets set decision dates after visiting for BBQ at the Big House

After visiting for the BBQ at the Big House, a top-100 WR sets his commitment date, and Michigan’s top choice at cornerback is announcing his decision this weekend. That and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup

As reported last week, early returns on Michigan’s recruiting efforts from the BBQ at the Big House have been overwhelmingly positive. A number of prospects said the event exceeded their expectations and they have made plans to return to Ann Arbor for visits this fall.

Now, a number of BBQ visitors have decision dates set, and Michigan appears to be trending to land their commitments. In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we’ll discuss those recruitments and also gauge the temperature for a key target in the class of 2026.

To steal a page from the playbook of whoever is ghostwriting defensive coordinator Wink Martindale’s tweets, buckle up .

Top WR target sets commitment date

Wide receiver coach Ron Bellamy hosted the top remaining target on his board, four-star Andrew Marsh , for yet another visit this summer. The top-100 receiver from Fulshear, Texas has been a frequent visitor to Ann Arbor, including three trips this calendar year.

“What really made it different from some of the other visits was the freedom,” Marsh told The Wolverine’s EJ Holland ($), “I’ve been up there a ton, obviously, so they gave me the freedom to get done what I needed to get done.”

One of the things he was able to get done on the visit was furthering his connection with Bellamy, who Marsh and his family affectionately refer to as “Uncle Ron.” The two were able to talk some football and go through on-field drills. Marsh also caught some passes from 2026 Michigan quarterback commit Brady Hart .

After also visiting Washington to close out the summer, Marsh is now ready to announce his commitment and plans to do so in a meaningful way. He’ll go public with his college decision on Aug. 20, the birthday of his late father.

Marsh’s list of schools include Michigan, Kentucky, Texas, USC, and Washington, and there are a number of factors that will go into his final decision, including academics, a “fair chance to play early,” and “get developed and get to the league.”

Earning Marsh’s pledge would mean even more after the recent news of speedster Phillip Wright’s decommitment . Bellamy will look to close on the crown jewel of his wide receiver class over the next few weeks.

CB target also closing in on a decision

Class of 2025 four-star cornerback Jayden Sanders made his second trip to Ann Arbor in as many months for the BBQ at the end of July. Earlier in the month, predictions rolled in for the 6-foot-2, 172-pound Texas native to end up in the maize and blue.

Now, fresh off the trip to Michigan, Sanders has a decision date set.

“August 10th. It’s my media day, and all my family is going to be down there in Kilgore,” he said to The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb ($).

While on the visit, Sanders got to connect with his potential future position coach, LaMar Morgan. The two share a similar calm and collected personality and have been opening up more to each other as they continue to grow their relationship.

Sanders also shared a connection with four-star safety commit Kainoa Winston , saying, “I felt like he’s also calm and collected. He doesn’t talk very much but the more we talk, (the more) he opened up. And he just likes to play, and I feel like I can vibe with him.”

With his commitment date quickly approaching, Michigan will look to leverage those budding relationships to land its top target at the position. Sanders will decide between Michigan, Baylor and Oklahoma State this Saturday.

Michigan near the top of the list for a top-100 OL prospect

The BBQ at the Big House was the first trip to Ann Arbor for Leo Delaney , a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive line prospect in the 2026 class. The top-100 recruit attends Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where a couple current Wolverines were once teammates with Delaney.

“They got Jadyn (Davis), they got Channing (Goodwin) and they only got great things to say about this program,” Delaney told 247Sports. “So I think with them just having so much positive feedback, it’s only been phenomenal for me. I’ve heard so much great things and I couldn’t wait to visit.”

Delaney has some “unfortunate” family ties to Ohio State . His father attended OSU on a theater scholarship and Delaney jokes in an interview with The Michigan Insider, “he didn’t particularly enjoy his time there,” before transferring to Wayne State University in Detroit.

Although Delaney doesn’t have a short list of schools just yet, he plans to announce that during his senior season. When asked if the Wolverines will make that list, Delaney says unequivocally, “Yes, sir. Without a doubt. One hundred percent.”

Offensive line coach Grant Newsome and head coach Sherrone Moore will prioritize Delaney throughout the 2026 cycle and look to continue the pipeline of Providence Day talent (and Delaney men) flowing to the state of Michigan.

Quick Hitters

  • Top-100 wide receiver Jerome Myles out of Corner Canyon High School announced his top 10 schools on Monday. Myles decommitted from Ole Miss in June after official visits to Utah and Texas A&M, and he was recently in attendance for the BBQ event in Ann Arbor. Michigan made the cut along with Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC, and Utah. Next, the Wolverines will look to get the 6-foot-2 receiver with elite track speed back to Ann Arbor for an official visit in the fall.
  • DJ Sanders , a 6-foot-4, 290 pound defensive lineman from Bellville, Texas, will announce his college decision on Thursday, August 8th. Sanders officially visited Ann Arbor in May to kick off the summer official visit period. He was expected to make a return trip in September for the week 2 showdown with Texas. Michigan is battling the home state Longhorns and Texas A&M for Sanders’ commitment.
  • McHale Blade , a 2026 top-150 edge, did not make it to Ann Arbor for the BBQ. However, the Illinois native told 247Sports’ Brice Marich ($) Michigan remains one of his favorite schools and he speaks with defensive line coach Lou Esposito almost daily.
  • A number of 2026 offers went out over the weekend, including defensive linemen Jermaine Kinsler and Carter Luckie , running back Raycine Guillory Jr. , and five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell .
