A four-star WR that visited Michigan for a spring practice recently praised quarterback Bryce Underwood and Chip Lindsey’s offense. We have that and more in this edition of the Recruiting Roundup:

Springs visits are well underway for the Michigan Wolverines , and those will continue through the spring game and into official visits. The prime of recruiting season is nealy here, so we have plenty of news to get to and plenty of news to come in the months ahead.

Top-150 WR praises Bryce Underwood and Michigan’s offense

Travis Johnson , a 2026 four-star wide receiver ranked No. 137 overall, visited Michigan last weekend and put the Wolverines in his top-seven. He expanded on that visit with On3’s EJ Holland ($) .

“It was a great visit,” Johnson said. “I saw Bryce (Underwood) spin it. He’s a heck of a player. They treated me like a priority. I have a great chance to play early there.”

Much like many young receivers, the idea of playing with the most highly-touted quarterback prospect in the country is appealing for the Chesapeake native.

“It looks like there are way more passing plays now with the new offensive coordinator, coach Lindsey” Johnson said. “Of course, Bryce was playing great. The receivers were making plays. You know they are always going to have the run and a good offensive line. Now, they are opening up the pass game. It’s very fun to watch.”

Holland reported that Johnson intends to make official visits with every school in his top-seven list — Michigan, Indiana, Georgia, Penn State, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia Tech . However, the Wolverines could be the team to watch.

“They are definitely one of the schools at the top,” Johnson said. “They always treat me like a priority. Bryce Underwood is there now. I’m excited to get back for my official visit. I love being up there.”

Michigan in the lead with ATH after ‘best visit I’ve been on’

2026 athlete Markel Dabney included Michigan in his top-five earlier this winter and he followed up with a visit this past weekend.

“The Michigan visit went great,” Dabney told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($). “They answered everything I need to know they didn’t sugarcoat anything and that is great program overall. Best visit I’ve been on in my recruitment process.

“The nutritionist and the weight room program is the best I have ever seen,” Dabney said. “That’s the biggest takeaway (from my Michigan visit). The details of it. They really went into details and it’s kind of hard to explain it.”

Dabney will be back in Ann Arbor for his official visit the weekend of June 13.

“I think they’re the school to beat right now,” Dabney said. “Yes, (they lead in my recruitment) by a very small margin.”

Dabney has a few dozen offers from schools across the country. Penn State, SMU, Pitt and Virginia Tech round out the unique top-five for the Richmond, Virginia native.

Local ATH speaks on picking up Michigan offer

It’s always important to pick up the best recruits in your home state. Michigan is trying to do that with 2027 safety Gideon Gash , who plays at Detroit Catholic Central. He earned his Michigan offer earlier this winter.

After a great conversation with @19Bellamy I am blessed to receive and offer from the university of Michigan! @CoachWinkUM @CoachLMorgan @_RayTaylor @jcessante @JMachDCC @TheD_Zone @AllenTrieu . pic.twitter.com/gyiwsygwtk

Gash, who is unranked on the 247Sports composite like most players in his class, spoke about that offer with On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). He said he wasn’t expecting the offer despite the connection his family has to the school.

“It was an honor because my brother played there,” Gash said, referring to former Michigan running back Isaiah Gash. “I was just shocked. That was what I built my whole life up to, getting these big offers, and I’m definitely not going to let it stop. I’m going to keep going as hard as I can to get more.”

Gash is being recruited by Michigan to play cornerback and he has already built quite the rapport with defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan.

“I loved him as a coach,” Gash said. “He was a super cool dude.

“I’ve always followed in my brother’s footsteps, and just getting that offer, knowing I could play at the same school my big brother did, it was a joy, and it just felt amazing.”

These are all set to happen after his commitment decision.
