A top-100 QB has locked in a visit for Michigan’s spring game. We’ve got that and much more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
Since wrapping up the 2025 recruiting cycle a couple weeks ago, Michigan has been busy doing work in both the 2026 and 2027 classes. The Wolverines are picking up steam with a lot of top recruits, and we’re starting to see these recruits get closer to a decision.
Four-star 2026 QB sets visit date with Michigan
Brady Smigiel — a four-star quarterback in the 2026 class — has locked in visits this spring with UCLA, South Carolina and Michigan. He will be in Ann Arbor on April 19 for the Michigan spring game, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($) .
Smigiel has also locked in one official visit, as he will be going to Washington on June 19. Should things go well for his visit for the spring game, it wouldn’t surprise to see Smigiel plan an official visit to Michigan for later this summer.
The spring game is always a big recruiting event for the Wolverines, and Smigiel locking in his attendance is a big development for Chip Lindsey and company. With Michigan in need of a capable backup to Bryce Underwood and a player to eventually take over for him, Smigiel — who is the No. 5 quarterback and No. 68 overall prospect on 247Sports’ composite — is a high quality candidate to be that player.
Top 2026 RB narrows list down to four schools
Another top target for Michigan in the 2026 class is five-star running back Savion Hiter . He recently cut his list down to four schools, and the Wolverines are still alive. Hiter will choose between Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee and Georgia.

• Georgia- June 6-8
• Michigan- June 13-15
• Tennessee- June 19-22https://t.co/VKtLd1LZEN pic.twitter.com/KdXp8DjkTd— Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) February 16, 2025
Hiter also locked in an official visit to Michigan, as he will be coming in Ann Arbor from June 13-15.
“I would say from his standpoint and our standpoint they’ve set the bar really high,” Hiter’s mom recently told On3’s Wiltfong . “From the beginning with them the whole staff has been involved. They’ve been very consistent. We’ve built a great relationship with not only coach Tony Alford but the head coach Sherrone Moore as well. Also a lot of the other staff as well.”
Hiter is among Michigan’s top overall targets in the class and would be a massive addition for the future of Michigan’s offense. This past high school season, he had 156 rush attempts for 1,698 yards and 26 touchdowns, along with 199 receiving yards.
Four-star SEC commit locks in official visit with Michigan
2026 four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle has been committed to Auburn since July, but he is still considering some other options. Toodle recently locked in official visits with four other schools, and Michigan is one of them. He will be in Ann Arbor on May 30, and he is also visiting Georgia, Florida and Baylor.
“I just want to be absolutely certain when choosing college for the next 3 to 4 years,” Toodle told On3’s Chad Simmons .
Toodle admitted his commitment to Auburn is “strong,” but that clearly isn’t stopping Michigan or the other aforementioned programs from trying to flip him. We’ll get a better idea of where Michigan sits with him following his visit.
