One of Michigan’s top targets along the offensive line recently received two predictions to land in Ann Arbor. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
The spring game is a week away, and plenty of top targets are preparing for their trip to Ann Arbor to see the Michigan Wolverines take the field for the first time this spring.
In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we will focus on three recruits who were in Ann Arbor this past weekend, starting with a recruit that could be a part of Michigan’s most valuable unit.
Top OL target predicted to commit to Michigan
2026 four-star offensive lineman Leo Delaney was one of several recruits to visit Ann Arbor the first weekend of April , with the Wolverines clearly making a good impression on him.
Two predictions have been logged for Delaney on 247Sports — Anna Adams placed one in favor of Tennessee last week, and earlier this week, Brice Marich predicted Delaney will land at Michigan.
It appears Tennessee and Clemson are Michigan’s main competitors for Delaney, whose family was impressed on the trip.
“We love this place,” Barry Delaney, Leo’s father, told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($) . “It seems like a terrific place for any kid to learn about the world and transition to the next phase of adult life. But particularly for football, it’s an unusual blend of academics and high-level football that I think is pretty much unmatched.”
Both Wiltfong and McDowell — the latter of whom also placed a prediction for Delaney to commit to Michigan — hinted that Michigan is in the lead.
On the 247Sports composite , Delaney — who plays high school football at Providence Day School, the same as Michigan quarterback Jadyn Davis and wide receiver Channing Goodwin — is ranked 132nd in his class, eighth among interior offensive linemen and eighth among North Carolina recruits.
Top 300 2026 DB speaks on first Michigan visit
Jordan Deck, a four-star Texas safety ranked in the top-300 on the composite , was also in Ann Arbor last weekend. He talked with On3’s E.J. Holland ($) about his first time visiting Michigan.
“Everything went great,” Deck said. “I loved everything about it. I had a great time. I liked watching practice and seeing freshmen run with the 1’s and 2’s. There were a whole lot of freshmen on the field. I really enjoyed watching coach (LaMar) Morgan coach. The general manager (Sean Magee) is a great guy. I loved meeting face-to-face with coach (Sherrone) Moore. I love the culture down there. I loved the campus. The air just feels different (laughs).”
One observation from Deck encouraged him more than anything else.
“Coach Morgan didn’t yell at anybody when they messed up,” Deck said. “He was coaching and teaching. He was really a teacher. The drills were efficient. There was a lot of good technique. The DBs were polished. The young guys were getting a lot of reps.”
Deck said Michigan is “definitely in the top-three for me.” His official visit is set for the weekend of May 30, with other officials lined up for Colorado, UCLA, Penn State, Ole Miss and Baylor.
Top-10 2027 edge speaks highly of Michigan after visit
While the 2026 class is obviously the top priority for the Wolverines, it’s always important to be hosting younger recruits that can get a great first impression of Ann Arbor.
Michigan hosted Chris Whitehead , a 6-foot-5, 210-pound edge rusher ranked eighth overall in the 2027 class on the composite. The Virginia native got inside access to the Wolverines and picked up an offer at the end of the visit.
“It was intense,” Whitehead told Holland ($) . “They didn’t have a practice that day. It was class on grass. We went to the defensive line meeting and talked to coach (Lou Esposito). I really liked the locker room. I got to see the jerseys and the equipment room. They had a trophy section. It was all really nice.”
The young pass rusher soaked in a lot of information with the defensive line group, learning from defensive line coach Lou Esposito.
“It was good,” Whitehead said. “I felt like I was part of the team. I got to see their scheme and how it could best fit me with what I do. They have a lot of draft picks that went there. Knowing that gives me confidence that they can get me to that point.”
Whitehead said Michigan is “definitely on my top list.” He also as offers from all the usual suspects: Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State and Tennessee, among others.
