August 21, 2024 by Maize n Brew

Ron Bellamy’s top WR target, 2025 four-star Andrew Marsh, is announcing his decision today. Meanwhile, Michigan is trending for a family member of a committed prospect. Those stories and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:

The Michigan Wolverines currently have the 14th-ranked recruiting class according to 247Sports’ composite . Sherrone Moore and his staff have 16 commitments in the 2025 class and are looking to add more firepower to their arsenal, with a decision from a four-star playmaker expected tonight.

We’ll preview that decision and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup.

Top-100 target announcing decision today

Andrew Marsh, a four-star wide receiver out of Katy Jordan High School in Texas, will announce his college decision tonight at 6 p.m. Marsh is ranked as the No. 63 overall prospect in 2025 and the ninth-best receiver in the class.

The Wolverines are unanimously favored to land the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder when he goes public with his decision later this evening.

Wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has established a bond with both Marsh and his mother. She affectionately refers to Bellamy as “Uncle Ron” and views him like a little brother. Marsh would be the highest-ranked wide receiver Bellamy has landed at Michigan.

Marsh also spoke to The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb ($) and detailed his relationship with Bellamy, saying, “Really through everything he’s just always been consistent. A lot of coaches have changed schools, lost consistency, or haven’t talked when they’re on vacation and stuff like that. But he’s the one guy, he’s just always been consistent. He’s really personable, he’s easy to talk to, and he has a long history just doing what he does.”

Marsh was originally expected to commit in November on Veteran’s Day to honor his late father. Instead, he’ll go public with his choice this evening, in honor of his father’s birthday. We’ll bring you more when he announces his decision later tonight.

Top in-state target connecting with new staff

The Wolverines have not landed the top-ranked recruit from their home state since Will Johnson in 2022. Bellamy is looking to end that trend as he continues to build his relationship with 2026 top-100 athlete CJ Sadler .

Sadler, who is 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, played some quarterback last year for Detroit’s Cass Tech High School, but projects to wide receiver or defensive back at the next level.

Sadler was previously being recruited by former defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale, who followed Jim Harbaugh to the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason. But contact with both Bellamy, now his primary recruiter, and head coach Sherrone Moore has picked up since he attended the Michigan spring game in April.

He recently told The Wolverine’s Zach Libby ($) : “Coach Bellamy, he calls, checks in, makes sure I’m good, makes sure the family is good…When I talk to those guys, we don’t really talk about football. It’s more about life.”

Sadler was also able to connect with some of his former teammates from Cass Tech and Sound Mind Sound Body, the Detroit-based 7-on-7 academy Sadler plays for, while at the spring game.

“It was great to see them,” Sadler said, “…those guys pushed me because I know what they’ve been through. I saw those guys grow up. I played with them. I played against them. So watching those guys at the next level, it motivates me.” He’ll look to channel that motivation as he enters his junior season as the top in-state player in his class.

The Wolverines continue to battle against the likes of Colorado, LSU , Michigan State , Oregon, and Penn State. It is expected that Michigan will get Sadler back on campus for a game this fall.

Younger brother of Michigan commit also trending for the Wolverines

Michigan recently landed the commitment of 2025 four-star edge Julius Holly . He visited Ann Arbor in June and for the BBQ at the Big House at the end of July, and he didn’t come alone — his younger brother, Jaxon Holly , was alongside him. And although it is early in his recruitment, he could see himself following in his older brother’s footsteps.

Jaxon, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound sophomore at Alpharetta (Georgia) High School, also plays the edge spot alongside his brother. Defensive line coach Lou Esposito held a workout, where he got to see both Holly brothers up close during their June visit, and extended an offer to Jaxon shortly after.

Now that Julius is committed, he’s already working on getting his younger brother to follow in his footsteps. Jaxon told On3’s Zach Libby ($) , “He has definitely been recruiting me…and he’s always saying ‘Go Blue’ when he comes into my room.”

Esposito and Julius’ pitches have been resonating with the younger Holly brother. He says, “This is one of my favorite schools since I was little, and I was like, ‘Yeah, I can see myself here with my brother one day.”

Jaxon is also aware of Michigan’s success along the edge, noting players like Aidan Hutchinson who have found success in the NFL after playing at Michigan.

Over the weekend, Libby was in Georgia to watch Alpharetta’s season opener and connect with the Holly brothers. After speaking with Jaxon, who was seen wearing a Michigan wristband , Libby entered a prediction for the Wolverines to — eventually — land him.

Quick Hitters

  • On Monday, 2025 top-50 wide receiver Jerome Myles announced his top-five schools and a decision date of Oct. 30. Michigan was left on the list in favor of Georgia, Ohio State , Texas A&M , USC, and Utah, with the latter receiving predictions.
  • It’s never too early in recruiting, as several Michigan coaches have extended offers to prospects across the 2026 and 2027 classes over the past few days. Some of those offers include 2026 four-star tight end Brayden Fogle , 2026 four-star linebacker Duyon Forkpa , 2026 three-star athlete Dreshaun Ross , 2026 unranked linebacker Ashton Moore , 2027 top-10 running back Ezavier Crowell , and 2027 top-25 running back Landen Williams-Callis .
