Michigan QB Bryce Underwood is doing his part in recruiting one of the best players in the state of Michigan in the 2026 class. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
The Michigan Wolverines ’ spring game is a little more than a month away, and the period between now and then is a crucial part of the recruiting calendar. Here is the latest Michigan recruiting news, starting with a freshman helping Michigan on the recruiting trail.
Bryce Underwood helping Michigan land local four-star athlete
In recruiting, it’s important to land the top prospects close to home. Michigan did that with LeBron James smacker talker Bryce Underwood in 2025, and now the Wolverines are hoping to do the same in the 2026 class.
The Wolverines have been pursuing top-100 athlete CJ Sadler , who is fresh off a state championship campaign with Cass Tech. Sadler, who was named the Michigan High School Football Player of the Year by MaxPreps, is the top ranked recruit from Michigan and the No. 87 overall player on the 247Sports composite.
According to The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb ($), Underwood’s decision to commit to Michigan has impacted Sadler, as he now has a chance to be a star with Underwood in his home state. Underwood has also been recruiting Sadler hard, as the two have known each other for nearly a decade.
Sadler was on our wish list for the Wolverines a few months ago, so hopefully Underwood is able to make some magic happen to keep him in the state of Michigan for his college football career. Sadler plans to be committed before his senior year so he can focus on the football season, so stay tuned for developments.
Michigan hosting four-star DL
Building up the trenches both offensive and defensively is always a top priority for Michigan, and that rings true in the 2026 class. At the end of this month, Michigan will be hosting 2026 four-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds , according to On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). Geralds will be on campus March 28-29.
Defensive line coach Lou Esposito stopped by Geralds’ high school back in January during the winter evaluation period.
“Michigan was a good meeting,” Geralds told The Wolverine. “Got a chance to spend time with the DL coach, and he talked a while about life and developing in a place that would allow me to thrive.”
Geralds, whose father played college football at Ole Miss, is also being pursued by the Rebels and Ohio State, among others. Last season, he compiled 114 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 13 sacks and 36 quarterback hurries.
On the composite, the Suwanee, Georgia native is rated 63rd overall in the class, sixth among defensive linemen and eighth among recruits from his home state.
Three-star DL excited about Michigan offer
Geralds is far from the only defensive lineman the Wolverines are going after, with Jacksonville, Florida native Brian Harris picking up a recent offer.
I am so blessed and honored to receive a offer from The University of Michigan #AGTG #GoBlue @UMichCoachEspo @CoachDenham1 @MonsterBrad5 @Andrew_Ivins @JohnGarcia_Jr @adamgorney @ChadSimmons_ @SWiltfong_ @MohrRecruiting @247Sports @samspiegs @CraigHaubert @RivalsFriedman … pic.twitter.com/baraNMURdu

Harris told TMI’s Brice Marich ($ ) he’s “really excited” about the offer.
“It’s a huge program with a lot of history, and I’m grateful for the opportunity,” Harris said. “The coaches told me they like my versatility and how aggressive I play, and they see me fitting into their defensive scheme well. Right now, I’m just taking everything in and keeping my recruitment open, but Michigan is definitely a school I’ll be looking into more.”
Harris is ranked just outside the top-500 among 2026 recruits and just outside the top-50 among defensive linemen. He made a verbal pledge to Terrapins early in his recruitment, but re-opened his recruitment last month.
Michigan has a personal connection for Harris, with his high school teammate, 2026 four-star cornerback Brody Jennings , currently committed to Michigan.
“Having my teammate Brody commit there only reinforces that feeling,” Harris said. “Knowing that someone I trust is choosing Michigan gives me even more confidence that it’s the right place for me to grow as a player.”
Harris plans on visiting Ann Arbor soon.
