The Wolverines recently offered a CB committed to an ACC school, and Michigan is now expected to host him on an official visit next week. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
Michigan landed its sixth commitment of the 2026 recruiting cycle on Tuesday in four-star tight end Matt Ludwig . A solid player all around, he is a stellar addition to the class for Steve Casula and company.
However, the Wolverines aren’t done. Far from it, in fact. In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we’ll dive into the latest and greatest recruiting news for the Michigan Wolverines , starting with a player they recently offered that is currently committed to an ACC program.
Michigan might host ACC commit for official visit next weekend
Earlier this week, Michigan safeties coach Lionel Stokes offered 2026 three-star cornerback Traeviss Stevenson . The 6-foot-1, 181-pounder from Quitman, Georgia has been committed to Georgia Tech since March, but that hasn’t stopped teams like Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Florida State and others from offering him this spring.
Now, Stevenson is planning an official visit for next weekend, he told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($), but that isn’t 100 percent locked in. If it doesn’t happen next weekend, he will take a midweek official at some point. He also will take officials to Texas and Georgia, as well as Georgia Tech.
“I’m very interested in going out there, seeing what it’s like and testing the waters out there,” Stevenson said. “It’s Michigan … the thing that interests me the most is the amount of people they be putting in the NFL. I want to be developed, so I’m going where I can be developed and get to play at the next level.”
Even before he has taken a trip to Ann Arbor, Stevenson admitted Michigan is in his top-three right now. We will keep you all updated on how his official visit goes.
A huge official visit is on the horizon
Speaking of official visits, one of the most important recruits officially visiting Ann Arbor next weekend is 2026 four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle . The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is committed to Auburn, but he has been very open about his interest in other schools, and that includes Michigan.
But Toodle is coming off an official visit to Georgia last weekend, and his trip was so good that the Bulldogs earned some flip predictions from recruiting experts.
The Wolverines will have their shot with him next weekend, which is a follow up trip from his time in Ann Arbor this spring. On3’s EJ Holland ($) recently caught up with Toodle, who explained what he wants to see at Michigan.
“I want to sit down and see more of how they are going to use me in the defense,” Toodle said. “I want to watch more of the defense. I also want to get to know some of the linebackers on the team better.”
Toodle will take other official visits to North Carolina (the weekend of June 6), Auburn (June 13) and Baylor (June 20). The Bulldogs seem to be in the best position to flip Toodle as of now, but Michigan will do its best to get him in the class.
Local five-star wants to see more offensive firepower this season
We are a long ways away from members of the 2027 class signing their letter of intent, but it would be foolish to not provide some early coverage for five-star in-state wide receiver Dakota Guerrant . The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Harper Woods native is the No. 1 player in Michigan and the No. 16 overall player in his class. He has visited Ann Arbor countless times, including this spring on a handful of occasions.
Guerrant is high on the Wolverines early on, but there is one thing he needs to see before he gives a potential commitment, he told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($).
“For me right now with Michigan, I love the offensive change and I like Bryce,” Guerrant said. “I know (Underwood) — I know he’s going to be a dawg and he’s a good quarterback. I know he’s going to at least try to get me the ball. I feel like he can take the offense to a different level rather than the quarterbacks that Michigan has had.
“I just got to see it (with the offense as my biggest question towards Michigan). That’s the only thing for me. I just got to see it happen. Spring game, they didn’t really open it up, so I didn’t really get to see how I wanted to, but we’re going to see if they can win or whatever.”
Clearly, how the offense evolves under offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey is going to be massive for him. If the Wolverines open up the pass game — which is the expectation — they can easily land his commitment. Underwood will also play a role in his recruitment, as he and Guerrant have known each other for a long time.
“There’s a couple schools I’m looking forward to seeing the ball a little more in the air,” Guerrant said. “I think it’s a factor for me seeing the ball in the air. Schools that get the ball in the air, they’re also stacked in the receiver room, too. The receiver room isn’t so stacked at Michigan, but they don’t pass as much, so it makes sense. However, if they start passing a little more, then they’re still the hometown school and you get more love from the state that you’re from. It’s always nothing but love for the hometown.”
Things look good right now, but they will look even better in this recruitment if Underwood and the pass attack thrive this fall.
