Michigan has hosted dozens of high end recruits so far this spring, and many of them have spoke glowingly about their time visiting Ann Arbor. That includes a local QB that has sky-high potential:
The Michigan Wolverines have been hosting a ton of top end recruits this spring, and more will be on the way in the coming weeks leading up to the spring game on April 19. So far, the early returns have been positive.
We detail some of the latest in today’s Recruiting Roundup.
Michigan is ‘really high’ on the list for elite in-state QB
It’s never too early to think about the future. Of course, the immediate future under center is Bryce Underwood, but the Wolverines have made it a point to have a succession plan for when Underwood departs.
Per On3 , Michigan hosted Cass Tech 2028 quarterback Donald Tabron II last weekend.
“I started off the day talking to coach (Josh) Sinagoga,” Tabron said. “We got to sit down, meet and talk football. We watched the players warm up. It was a really competitive day on Saturday. It was a full-padded practice. They really went after each other. It was really good to see Bryce (Underwood) handle the pressure.”
Tabron has a close connection with Underwood, as he trains with Underwood during the offseason and even wears No. 19 like Underwood. While it’s too early for Tabron to be ranked, he could very well develop into a five-star. Michigan has made him an early priority, and that work is paying off.
“They stand really high up there,” Tabron said. “Top 3 or Top 5. Really, just watching them build this offense out and how it does this season will be really good for me.”
Four-star OL details ‘awesome experience’ at Michigan
The 12th ranked interior offensive lineman in 2026, four-star Carter Scruggs left his visit to Ann Arbor last weekend with no question marks. The Virginia native spoke positively about his third visit to campus.
“It was honestly an awesome experience,” Scruggs told On3 . “I really got to know the people around the program and the offensive line group. They are all great guys. One thing that really stood out to me was the Ross School of Business. I want to major in something in the business school. I was really impressed. It’s really prestigious.”
Another highlight for Scruggs was getting to take in Saturday’s practice, noting the Wolverines “look really good, especially the offensive line with coach (Grant) Newsome … They have a lot of potential to be great this year. When the offense was hot, they were unstoppable.”
After the visit, Scruggs confirmed Michigan is “for sure a top school for me” and that “they are going to be in the running for my commitment in the end.”
Scruggs will be back at Michigan for his official visit the weekend of June 6. He also has summer official visits scheduled with Clemson, Georgia and Penn State.
Top CB target cancels trip to Miami to check out Michigan again
A New Jersey native and top-150 overall prospect, 2026 four-star cornerback Jordan Thomas was back on campus this weekend. He recapped his time with 247Sports .
“Michigan is high in my recruitment,” he said. “I wanted to spend time strengthening my relationship with the coaches, and I wanted to see a practice up close.”
The visit was an alteration because he was originally slated to be at Miami. He is set to visit Auburn this weekend, and then USC on April 26. A decision could come sometime in the near future.
“Being recruited and having the opportunity to go to Michigan is a blessing and I am very thankful,” he said. “The culture, tradition, and legacy about the school itself is legendary. You can go to Michigan and develop in all aspects, be surrounded by people that hold you accountable and challenge you to be the best and meet a high standard.”
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is the No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey and No. 177 overall in the country.
