The Michigan Wolverines recently received a prediction to land one of their top TE targets in the 2026 class. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
Michigan football recruiting closed the 2025 class with a burst and momentum, and that is continuing into the 2026 class with the recent commitment of four-star offensive lineman Bear McWhorter . That momentum may continue soon, as the Wolverines recently received a prediction to land one of their most coveted offensive prospects in the class.
Michigan predicted to land prized TE
EJ Holland of On3 recently joined Steve Wiltfong in predicting Michigan to land 2026 four-star right end Matt Ludwig . He is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Montana and 244 overall, per 247Sports’ composite.
According to Holland , Michigan sent a convoy of Sherrone Moore, Steve Casula, Chip Lindsey and Grant Newsome to Ludwig’s home state of Montana earlier this year, and the visit was well received by Ludwig
“It was awesome,” Ludwig said. “I had a big-time game that day. We had a full packed out gym, so it was awesome to see that environment out here in Montana. More importantly, it was awesome to see them and build more of a relationship with them.”
Ludwig has official visits scheduled to Michigan, Georgia and Texas Tech for this June, but he will get to Ann Arbor well before that for a multi-day visit from March 20-22. Other schools like Tennessee and Texas A&M are also trying to get him on their respective campuses as well.
The Michigan staff is smitten with Ludwig given his measurables. Ludwig measured 6-foot-4 and 242 pounds last summer, according to Holland, and ran an 11.3 100 meter as a sophomore. Should he commit, he’d be the first tight end in Michigan’s 2026 class.
Four-star CB lists Michigan as a ‘favorite’
Per On3 , four-star cornerback and Michigan target, Havon Finney Jr. , has reclassified from the 2027 class to the 2026 class. Michigan offered the 6-foot-0.5, 170-pounder on Feb. 18, and Finney has spoke glowingly about Michigan even before reclassifying.
According to 247Sports, Finney had this to say about Michigan “That offer meant a lot,” Finney said before announcing his reclassification. “That’s pretty big. It’s one of the schools I’ve always liked growing up. Charles Woodson used to be one of my favorite players.”
Woodson may be one of his favorite players, but two other former Michigan cornerbacks have provided the connection between Finney and the Wolverines. Finney works out with David Long and Lavert Hill.
“They told me the education is good,” Finney said. “It’s a big school. Obviously, you would play against great competition. They’re going to develop you very well.”
Finney has also developed a relationship with his primary recruiter, LaMar Morgan.
“I like how real he was,” Finney said. “You could tell he wasn’t lying about anything. He’s really straight up.”
Finney told The Wolverine before this news broke that he is eyeing trips to LSU, Oregon and UCLA. Finney also “definitely” has plans to travel up to Michigan at some point this spring.
“I’ll visit within the next month,” Finney said in February.
Michigan is one of his “favorite” schools, but Finney has also intends to visit Ohio State, USC, UCLA, Texas, Oregon, LSU and Texas A&M.
Lone Star State four-star planning to visit Michigan
Michigan has put in work on the recruiting trail in Texas. The Wolverines have made solid progress in the 2026 class with guys like four-star offensive lineman Felix Ojo and four-star running back Javian Osborne, while also receiving a commitment from three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile.
Another 2026 prospect from the Lone Star State, four-star linebacker Tank King , plans to visit Michigan as well.

King received his Michigan offer last July, and not much has been written since then regarding the Wolverines’ standing. He has official visits scheduled for Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Texas already, so hopefully Michigan can get him back for an official visit after his upcoming spring trip.
Michigan has made recruiting the state of Texas a priority. In addition to those aforementioned 2026 prospects, Michigan landed Andrew Marsh, Ty Haywood and Jayden Sanders, all from Texas, in the 2025 class.
According to 247Sports’ composite , King is considered the No. 173 overall prospect, No. 12 linebacker and No. 21 player from Texas in the 2026 recruiting class.
