Plus, a four-star 2026 OT speaks on visiting Michigan this coming weekend, and a talented hooper puts the Wolverines in his top-10.
Michigan’s biggest recruiting event of the summer — the BBQ at the Big House — is set for this weekend. We’ll have plenty of recruiting news after an expected 50+ players descend on Ann Arbor in the coming days.
Until then, there’s still some recruiting news to get to, so let’s jump right in.
Michigan pursuing 2026 five-star OL
Ann Arbor has been a place where offensive linemen can thrive, and with the reputation Michigan has garnered in the trenches, it is looking to retool that unit with elite talent like 2026 five-star Immanuel Iheanacho.
A Rockville, Maryland native, Iheanacho is ranked fourth in the 2026 class on the 247Sports composite . Iheanacho picked up an offer from Michigan this spring , and he has offers from a few dozen schools ahead of his junior high school season.
Iheanacho discussed his offer in an interview with EJ Holland of The Wolverine ($ ), expanding on Michigan offering him during the spring evaluation period.
“I was very excited when I got it,” Iheanacho said. “They told me they wanted to take their time and see me in person. I was very excited when they saw me and offered me. They just won the national championship. Knowing they won the National Championship and have interest in me is a blessing.”
As has been the case with many other talented offensive linemen, offensive line coach Grant Newsome has been forming a good relationship with Iheanacho.
“He’s a nice, well-spoken coach,” Iheanacho said. “He went to Michigan. There are only so many coaches that go back to where they played. To win a national championship there, too, I know that he knows what he’s doing.”
Iheanacho said he does want to get to Ann Arbor eventually. Getting him on the sideline this season for a game could be crucial to his recruitment.
“I’ve never been to Michigan, so I’m interested to see what it’s like out there. I want to see the stadium, the overall area, the campus and some food spots (laughs).”
2026 four-star OT visiting Michigan for the first time this weekend
Like Imeanacho, several schools have their sights set on Leo Delaney, a 2026 four-star offensive lineman ranked just outside the top-70 in his class on the 247Sports composite .
The North Carolina native has offers from more than two dozen schools, including Michigan. He’s visiting Ann Arbor for the first time this weekend for the BBQ and is excited to see some former high school teammates at Providence Day.
“I am definitely looking forward to my first visit to Michigan a lot,” Delaney told Chad Simmons with On3 ($). ”Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin go there, so I am excited to see what they love so much about it. I am looking forward to meeting the strength coaches, meeting coach Sherrone Moore and start to build more relationships with the coaches. It will be nice to see what the town of Ann Arbor is about, too.”
As is likely the case with many recruits, Delaney is aware of how well Michigan develops talent on the offensive line, with the hardware speaking for itself.
“They had six offensive linemen in the NFL Combine , they won two out of the last three Joe Moore Awards and they just breed offensive linemen,” Delaney said. “I feel a school like this can really develop me.”
We’ll keep tabs on the recruitment of Iheanacho and Delaney, who already appear to be top targets in the 2026 class.
Four-star shooting guard puts Michigan in top-10
Shifting gears to men’s basketball for a second, the Wolverines were among the schools in the top-10 for 2025 four-star shooting guard Braylon Mullins. Michigan, Indiana and Purdue are the only Big Ten schools included in the group.

On the 247Sports composite, the Greenfield, Indiana native is rated just outside the top-70 in his class, 13th among shooting guard and fourth among recruits from the Hoosier state.
There’s a lot to like about Mullins’ game. It’s obvious Dusty May is recruiting him because of his shooting ability, his bounce around the rim and his tenacity on the offensive glass, the last of which is always an added bonus for a 6-foot-5 guard.
Remember this name.
