The nation’s top prospect, five-star OL Jackson Cantwell, was impressed with Michigan during his most recent visit and had a lot of good things to say. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
The spring season is not only the time for currently rostered players to impress the Michigan coaching staff, but also for the coaching staff and the university as a whole to impress potential recruits. Michigan hosted a long list of top prospects over the past week, so we will recap a few of them in today’s Recruiting Roundup.
No. 1 overall prospect speaks highly of his visit to Ann Arbor
Michigan hosted 2026 five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell over the weekend, and Cantwell spoke with On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($) about his visit.
“The big takeaways were that Michigan develops guys and that they’re gonna win football games every year because of the culture they have,” Cantwell said. “Got to talk ball with Newsome and assistant Juan Castillo and I felt like it was really beneficial. Those guys know their stuff. Castillo had some really good pass pro stuff to show me that made a lot of sense.”
Cantwell also spoke with The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($) and said “My biggest takeaway is that they have a lot of what I’m looking for and that they can develop offensive linemen very well.”
Cantwell is doing his due diligence on his six finalists — Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Missouri, Ohio State and Oregon. He plans to revisit Michigan for his official the weekend of June 13.
Michigan on top for blue chip OT
2026 Clearwater (FL.) four-star offensive lineman Samuel Roseborough Jr. is ranked in the top-150 overall prospects in his class. He is also coming off a weekend trip to Michigan — his first ever — and enjoyed his time, he told On3’s Wiltfong ($).
“Just was a great first time going up there up north,” Roseborough said. “Obviously the development of the o-line and how prideful they are about the o-line. The education, they take it serious. Those are two things that stood out to me while I was there.”
Roseborough will be at Texas A&M and Texas this weekend. Florida, Florida State and Ole Miss are others that value him highly, though he holds Michigan in high regard as well.
“Michigan is definitely at the top for me,” Roseborough said. “I plan on getting an OV there. Definitely a top school for me. The way everything is setup, the buildings everything different than being down south.”
