Things are heating up on the trail for Michigan, as the Wolverines recently received predictions from recruiting experts to land one of their top defensive targets. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:

The Michigan Wolverines got off to a slow start in the 2026 recruiting class, but it was never a major concern to those inside Schembechler Hall. Now, the Wolverines are trending toward commitments with multiple top targets. Let’s break down all of the latest news in today’s Recruiting Roundup.

Michigan predicted to land four-star DB

Michigan has picked up multiple predictions to land 2026 four-star defensive back Donovan Webb . He took his official visit to Ann Arbor a couple weeks ago and followed that up by canceling his trip to Notre Dame.

“My visit was amazing,” Webb told On3’s EJ Holland ($) . “I got to see everything I didn’t see in the spring, and I was able to get a better feel of the campus and the city. I loved everything about Ann Arbor. Meeting coach (Sherrone) Moore was definitely the highlight of my visit. He’s a coach I can see myself playing for. His story is inspiring, and you can tell he loves his players and wants what’s best for them in football and in life.”

Webb has obviously been recruited heavily by defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan, and they view him similarly to a former Wolverine drafted in the first-round.

“My talks with Morgan and the other DB coaches were great,” Webb added. “They love my versatility and see me fitting as a nickel and free safety. They believe my play style is similar to Daxton Hill.”

The Wolverines are in a great spot and don’t have to wait long for a commitment, as Webb will announce his decision on July 2. Kansas State and Texas Tech seem to be two of the biggest threats.

Four-star QB recaps recent Michigan trip

The 2026 recruiting class is the priority right now, but Michigan has hosted some 2027 prospects on campus recently as well. One recruit that was in Ann Arbor last week is four-star quarterback Malachi Zeigler , who came for the Michigan QB academy.

“The camp went really good,” Zeigler told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($) . “I got named camp MVP, so that was really cool. My favorite part was being able to compete against some of the top names in the country. Working with (coach Lindsey and coach Sinagoga) was amazing to be honest. Being able to workout with them and experience hands on coaching from that duo was insane. It gave a little insight as to why they’ve had success in their recent quarterback recruiting.”

Zeigler also got to link up with Bryce Underwood, who should be a big recruiting tool for the Wolverines during his time with the program.

It’s obviously very early in Zeigler’s recruitment, but Michigan is standing out so far.

“I think extremely highly of Michigan to be honest,” Zeigler said. “It’s a place that a quarterback would have success. I’m going to be completely honest — I plan to narrow down and get a top 10-12 in the near future, and Michigan is 1,000 percent on that list.”

Four-star QB shines at Michigan camp

Speaking of Michigan’s quarterback academy, another quarterback that excelled is 2027 four-star Teddy Jarrard . He won co-MVP with the aforementioned Zeigler.

“There was a lot of good competition, a lot of good quarterbacks there,” Jarrard told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($) . “It went good. We threw a lot of footballs, and I think I spent some valuable time with coach Lindsey, figuring out what Michigan is all about.”

Jerrard has a lot of time to make his college decision, so he is no rush right now. But there are a couple things in particular he is looking for.

“I want to be somewhere where I’m going to enjoy it. Culture and quarterback development are the big things that I’m looking for as of right now,” Jarrard said.

Recruits have always raved about Michigan’s culture, and that’s an important thing for Jarrard. So far, he likes what he sees.

“I think Michigan’s got a lot going for them, and I think that’s always a good thing when it comes to colleges and choosing where you want to go,” Jarrard said. “Culture-wise, it stood out to me.”
