The 2026 class is obviously the priority for the Michigan coaching staff right now, but the Wolverines are also starting to put in work in the 2028 recruiting class by recently offering a player named after a legendary QB from Notre Dame:
Another big weekend of official visits is now in the books for the Michigan Wolverines . However, the 2026 class isn’t the only one getting attention, as the coaching staff is starting to do some work in the 2028 class as well.
Michigan offers 2028 QB named after Brady Quinn
Michigan is an early team to watch for 2028 quarterback Brady Quinn — yes, you read that correctly. The Wolverines recently offered the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder who is not related to, but is named after the former Notre Dame quarterback.
“This is a very special opportunity because I was given the chance to play for a National Championship team with some of the highest-level coaches,” Quinn told On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($) . “It means a lot.”
A good sign for the Wolverines is Quinn thinks his skillset would translate well into Michigan’s offense.
“Michigan is one of the best schools in the country with great tradition and I could see myself fitting into that offense,” he said.
There is obviously a very long way to go, but it sounds like Michigan will be a contender until the end.
“Being my first time up here and seeing the facilities and the Big House and working with the coaches, I just know that this is a school that’s gonna be very high on my list,” he said.
As a freshman starter last season, Quinn went 176-of-316 for 2,549 yards, 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions at First Baptist Academy in Naples, Florida. He has other early offers from Kentucky, Maryland, Louisville, Nebraska, Missouri, Ole Miss and more.
Lou Esposito’s son earns Michigan offer
Another recruit who recently earned a Michigan offer is 2027 three-star offensive lineman Louis Esposito , the son of Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito. It was a special moment for Louis and his family.
“The conversation with coach Moore was great,” Esposito told 247Sports’ Allen Trieu ($) . “Me and coach Newsome met on the field after camp, walked up to his office and then he offered me.
“I think working with coach Newsome and the offensive line staff was great. I like the technique they teach and the drills we did.”
Getting this offer was a dream come true for Esposito, and given that his dad is on the coaching staff, it would be surprising if the Wolverines don’t eventually earn a commitment.
“My parents and I were thrilled,” Esposito said. “I mean, I have been dreaming about this since I was a kid and my parents know that. After this camp I am going to cancel all other camps I planned on going to.”
Four-star LB breaks down Michigan visit
One player the Wolverines have made progress with recently is 2026 four-star linebacker Duyon Forkpa . He officially visited this past weekend, and it sounds like it went about as well as the Wolverines could’ve hoped for.
“This was my third time at Michigan and the visit was great,” Forkpa told On3’s Chad Simmons ($) . “There are no negatives in Michigan at all. It was a home feeling and my decision just got delayed because of this weekend in Ann Arbor.”
Michigan packed a lot into this visit for Forkpa, as he was able to meet with other prospects, talk to alumni and get an overall feel for what it would like to be a Wolverine.
“Being able to go into detail about what they can do for you after football was big for me,” Forkpa said. “Also, meeting with some of the alumni who are very successful and who were in the same position that I am made an impact on me. Hearing how they navigated through the recruiting process was big. Then being able to bond with the recruits and the hosts was probably the biggest thing for me.”
The Wolverines are in a good spot with Forkpa, and life after football is a big reason why.
“I’m feeling very good about Michigan,” Forkpa said. “They have no negative traits. They were very transparent and they have everything that you need to help you accomplish your biggest goals. When you think big picture, Michigan has a plan. They have everything you need to be successful, not just in football, but in life.”
