One of Michigan’s top targets in the secondary recently said the Wolverines are ‘definitely at the top’ of his recruitment. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
The Michigan Wolverines have a busy stretch coming up on the recruiting trail. Michigan is hosting a number of important visits in the next month or so, and more targets are starting to set commitment dates. In fact, one of them is announcing on Monday (May 12th).
We have a lot to get to in today’s Recruiting Roundup.
Michigan in good standing with four-star CB
2026 four-star cornerback Andre Clarke has plenty of good options as one of the top defensive backs in the country. He can pretty much go to any school he wants, and Michigan is leading the way in his recruitment so far.
“Definitely at the top,” Clarke told On3’s EJ Holland ($). “Top group, but probably No. 1. There is something about Ann Arbor. It feels like home.”
Clarke was on a visit last month and was able to see a practice up close. The coaching style is one thing that stood out to him.
“I really liked it out there,” Clarke said. “They have a great environment. I loved being around the coaches. I really enjoyed seeing practice. It was really competitive. If you are slacking, the coaches get on you. They coached hard. I liked that.”
One coach Clarke has specifically spent a lot of time talking to is defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan. He is confident Morgan can do big things for him.
“I like coach Morgan’s knowledge,” Clarke added. “I like the way he coaches. He’s really smart. If I go there, I think he can help me become a better man. I really enjoyed talking to coach (Sherrone) Moore, too. I like his story and how far he’s come.”
We should hear a final decision from Clarke this summer. He has official visits scheduled to Michigan, Kentucky, Syracuse and Virginia Tech . He also already visited SMU.
Four-star CB set to announce college decision
2026 four-star cornerback Jordan Thomas is set to announce his college decision today. He will choose between Michigan, Auburn, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
“Very excited,” Thomas told On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($). “It’s been a long journey. It’s really exciting. I’ve been dreaming of this day for a long time.”
Thomas is looking for a school that knows what they’re going to do with him, and he wants to be able to grow along the way — both as a football player and a person.
“Just somewhere I can go where they know me, they value me, where they have a plan for me,” Thomas said. “Somewhere I have a great relationship with them with like-minded individuals where I can be challenged to be good in all aspects of life.”
All five programs have a fighting chance on Monday, and we will know the final decision soon enough.
“They’re all great programs,” Thomas said. “They all did a great job recruiting me.”
Michigan an early contender for five-star WR
Michigan is obviously incredibly busy recruiting the 2026 class, but there is work being done with 2027 recruits as well. One target the Wolverines are working hard to land is five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales .
It’s very early in his recruitment, but Michigan is in a good spot right now. Sales named four schools that are standing out so far, and the Wolverines are one of them.
“Right now, probably LSU, Michigan, Indiana and Missouri,” Sales told On3’s Wiltfong ($).
Not only is Michigan one of Sales’ top schools right now, but the Wolverines were actually in the lead at one point.
“Michigan at one point was my top school,” Sales said. “Everything about Michigan. They got Donaven (McCulley) up there. They treat me like I’m already there. They show me so much love. Coach (Ron) Bellamy came here and offered me. I went up for a game. He’s a great person and great man.”
Michigan has struggled in recent years when it comes to bringing in elite wide receiver talent, so a commitment from Sales would be massive for the program.
