Plus, a four-star wide receiver and a four-star linebacker recap their recent visits.
Michigan hosted a slew of recruits in the 2025 class for official visits this past weekend , marking an end to official visit season.
In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we’ll discuss a few of the recruits who made recent visits, including a top-50 Notre Dame commit, as well as a wide receiver and a linebacker ranked inside the top-300.
Michigan hosts top-50 ND safety commit
One of the highest-ranked players in Ann Arbor this past weekend was Ivan Taylor, a top-50 safety who committed to Notre Dame in December. Taylor, rated as the fifth-best safety in his class on the 247Sports composite , is still being pursued by Michigan, Alabama and Florida despite his commitment.
Taylor visited all three schools in June, including Michigan last weekend, and got the chance to interact with the coaching staff.
“I had a good time with all the coaches,” Taylor said to The Wolverine’s EJ Holland ($) . “Coach (LaMar) Morgan, coach Wink (Martindale) and coach (Sherrone) Moore all seemed like good, genuine people. Coach Moore has a good staff around him. Nobody has anything bad to say about coach Moore because he’s a good guy and wants what’s best for the team.”
Taylor implied in a previous interview that Michigan is appealing because he could be “the guy” at the position in this class for the Wolverines. Another way to impress most recruits is to make a lasting impression on their parents, and it appears Moore did just that.
“Me, my mom and my dad really liked him,” Taylor said. “We like what he’s doing and how he’s building the program and the types of guys he brings in. It was a great conversation. We talked about how I felt and how things are going to go pushing forward about the situation.”
At this time, it’s unclear if Taylor would be willing to flip, but Michigan is clearly trying to make it happen. We’ll update you when/if that happens.
Top-300 WR recaps recent visit
Taz Williams, a 2025 four-star wide receiver on the 247Sports composite , visited Michigan for the third time this past weekend. This one was his official visit, and it sounds like the coaching staff stood out during his time in Ann Arbor.
“The main thing for me with Michigan is the relationships with the coaches,” Williams told On3’s Chad Simmons ($) . “Coach Ron Bellamy, coach Kirk Campbell, coach Sherrone Moore and a few others are guys I gave good connections with. They always welcome me, they have recruited me hard and it is those relationships that keep Michigan high on my list.”
Williams is set to make his decision on July 13, with Michigan, Penn State, SMU and Texas A&M all in the mix for Red Oak, Texas native. Michigan has clearly prioritized Williams, and this most recent visit seems to have helped the Wolverines.
“This visit definitely helped Michigan,” Williams said. “Don’t be surprised if it is the school I pick when I commit in July. I learned a lot about the offense, how coach Campbell wants to air it out and just their plan for me.”
There are no Crystal Ball predictions just yet for Williams, so expect to hear more about his recruitment prior to his decision in a couple weeks.
Michigan hosts four-star LB on official visit
Kamar Archie, a 2025 four-star linebacker on the 247Sport composite , traveled to Ann Arbor for his official visit this past weekend. I’ve written previously about how Archie should be a priority because he plays a position of need.
New linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary has been aggressive pursuing him and others on the recruiting trail, and Archie and Jean-Mary talked about how he fits into the defense.
“I think they see me more as an inside guy,” Archie told 247Sports’ Brian Dohn ($). “I feel like I can play outside ‘backer, too. I don’t always have to be inside, but I think the mike ‘backer spot at Michigan does get a lot of action.”
Another big aspect of his official visit was being able to interact with the current players, including his old high school teammate Owen Wafle .
“What stood out to me was really the players,” Archie said. “Being able to talk to the guys and really understand why so many of those guys stay and why they are so close, it’s special. It’s a special place. They really build something as a team. I feel like it is a bond that cannot be broken.”
Right now, it doesn’t appear Michigan is in the lead for Archie; Austin Hannon with Clemson Insider logged a Crystal Ball prediction for Archie to go to Clemson, which also hosted Archie on an official visit. Archie is aiming to make a commitment in a few weeks, and was pretty vague when speaking about the schools he’s visited.
“I can see myself at every place I’ve been,” he said. “These next couple of weeks it’s going to be, ‘All right, sit back and reflect.’ It’s not that initial feeling you get. Just sit back, reflect and pray and make a decision.”
