The Michigan Wolverines were highly successful flipping recruits in the 2025 class, and they are already gearing up to flip a four-star WR away from a Big Ten school. That and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
Valentine’s Day is here and love is in the air. Couples are heading out for a nice steak dinner, perhaps going to see a movie, and maybe even get some ice cream on the ride home.
But love isn’t on the mind of all those inside Schembechler Hall; they are working vigorously on setting up visits for the spring and summer, and even flipping some players on the recruiting trail. We’ve got all the details on that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
Michigan trying to flip four-star Rutgers WR commit
You don’t see many top-150 players commit to Rutgers these days, but that’s exactly what 2026 four-star wide receiver Dyzier Carter did back in July. But despite that very early pledge to the Scarlet Knights, Michigan has not stopped recruiting him.
Carter told The Wolverine’s EJ Holland ($) a lot of schools contacted him during the winter contact period earlier this year, with Michigan being among those schools. Others include Georgia, Mississippi State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Penn State and Purdue.
“Michigan talked to me about what they have to offer and flipping,” Carter said. “They are still in contact with me. It was great seeing their staff here and knowing that they have a high expectation for me.”
Having a highly regarded quarterback like Bryce Underwood appeals to any recruit, but especially offensive playmakers. Carter admitted the idea of playing with Underwood appeals to him.
“Being able to play with the best quarterback would be awesome,” he said.
Carter is high school teammates with Michigan’s top running back target, five-star Savion Hiter . Michigan landing one of these guys would most certainly help the Wolverines potentially land the other, as Holland reports they are “extremely close friends.”
The Mineral, Virginia native is ranked 147th in his class on the 247Sports composite, 22nd among wide receivers and fifth among Virginians.
Four-star WR sets unofficial visit to Michigan, may officially visit as well
After visiting for the USC game last fall and hosting the coaching staff last month, 2026 four-star wide receiver Nalin Scott says the Wolverines have made him feel like a priority.
According to On3’s Ethan McDowell ($) , Scott is tentatively planning on visiting Michigan April 5. If all goes well, he will schedule an official visit as well.
“I’m probably going to end up dropping a top-10 and start getting out to schools, but Michigan is most definitely going to be one of them,” Scott said. “I got to meet with coach Bellamy. He came by the school earlier in the year, and that relationship is going good. They’re going to be, most definitely, a high runner on my list.”
Scott also said Michigan is “top-five for sure” while praising wide receiver coach Ron Bellamy’s honest approach to his recruitment.
“The conversation was good,” Scott said of talking with Bellamy when they visited his school. “He was just telling me to build some speed up, and we went over my film again, too, and just (went) over some small things to work on.”
On the composite, the Powder Springs, Georgia native is ranked 183rd overall, 32nd among wide receivers and 25th among Georgians in his class.
Four-star edge sets unofficial visit AND official visit to Michigan
The Big Ten has been one of the top conferences for developing defensive linemen over the years, so the interest 2026 four-star edge rusher Jackson Ford has showed in Big Ten schools makes a lot of sense.
Ford, ranked 238th overall on the composite, has official visits set for Wisconsin (May 30), Penn State (June 6), USC (June 13) and Michigan (June 20), per 247Sports’ Tom Loy ($) . Rutgers and Kentucky were also mentioned as schools that have made him a priority.
But before those officials, he also plans to visit Michigan on March 22 for a spring practice.
“They have been in there the longest along with Penn State,” Ford said of Michigan. “I’ve known them a while. I was there to watch them play USC actually. They have us coming for a spring practice on March 22. I just want to see it again and as much as possible.”
The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Malvern, Pennsylvania will be tough to pull away from the in-state Nittany Lions, but perhaps getting the final official visit will help the Wolverines in this recruitment.

-Michigan’s top two 2026 running back targets — five-star Savion Hiter and four-star Javian Osborne — have scheduled their official visits for the weekend of June 13 and June 20, respectively, according to The Wolverine’s Holland.
