2026 five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. has been committed to Ohio State for six months now, but #Michigan may be gearing up to make a push to flip him. That and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
As January comes to a close and February’s National Signing Day is next Wednesday, recruiting news is beginning to pick up for the Michigan Wolverines. Let’s dive into all the latest updates in today’s Recruiting Roundup, leading off with Michigan attempting to flip a top wide receiver from its biggest rival.
Michigan attempting to flip five-star Ohio State WR commit
The wide receiver position has not typically been a spot on Michigan’s roster where NIL resources are allocated, but that could change with five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood coming in.
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland ($) noticed that Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and several staff members have followed five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. on social media. Henry, who has been committed to Ohio State for six months, is the top wide receiver in the 2026 class and the third-best player in the overall on the 247Sports composite .
Based on reporting we’ve seen, there’s not a whole lot of concrete evidence Henry is considering Michigan, but we know Michigan’s track record when it comes to recruiting under the radar.
“Henry hasn’t mentioned Michigan in interviews just yet, but Michigan likes to work behind the scenes and is very, very difficult to beat when it takes the ‘won’t be outbid approach.’ If I’m the Ellison’s I want to give my investment the best opportunity to succeed. Michigan is doing that with the offensive line and can further do it with Henry,” Holland wrote.
One notable tidbit — Henry’s recruiting coordinator is Rudy Cambero, who Michigan has worked with before after he served as Mason Graham’s recruiting coordinator.
“Every school in the country has asked if they have an opportunity,” Cambero told Holland. “At the end of the day, it’s going to come down to where he feels comfortable and what system fits him. I always tell coaches to talk to him and see what happens. He’s an Ohio State commit, but with everything going on in college football recruiting, you never know where these kids are going to end up.”
As of right now, this doesn’t seem incredibly likely to happen. Henry even quote-tweeted Holland’s post with a photo of OSU wide receivers coach Brian Hartline. However, at the end of the day, money talks, and we all know what happened after Underwood reposted a graphic saying he was likely to decline Michigan’s NIL offer.

Michigan is a clear contender for Scruggs, who visited Ann Arbor three times last fall, including for the MSU win . On the composite, Scruggs is ranked 124th among 2026 players and 11th among interior offensive linemen.
Scruggs expanded on his top schools with On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($) , who said Scruggs will officially visit in June.
“Michigan is known for putting O-linemen in the NFL,” Scruggs said. “Amazing academics. It’s one of the best public schools for education. Relationship with the coaches, they got a lot going for them.”
Scruggs also mentioned the main three things for him are “player development, education and relationships.” Michigan would be able to provide him with all three of those.
