The Wolverines are heating up for several prospects in the 2026 class, including a four-star defensive back/wide receiver that recently named Michigan as one of his three top schools. That and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
The Michigan Wolverines are just beginning to lay the foundation for their 2026 class. They already have four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel locked in, but there are plenty of players still left to be added.
In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we detail the latest news on a couple guys that very well could end up in Michigan’s class.
Four-star ATH says Michigan is a top-3 school for him
Salesi Moa, a four-star defensive back/wide receiver from Ogden, Utah, is ranked No. 56 overall in the class. He is an explosive athlete who could realistically play either offense or defense in college, but Michigan views him as a nickel.
In a recent interview with On3’s Ethan McDowell ($), Moa explained where Michigan sit in his top list.
“All around, I like Michigan because I like their facilities, their coaches have good culture, their standard, I just like it all, so I want to go take an OV (official visit) there.
“Definitely the top of my list, at least top-three.”
The Wolverines have produced some elite defensive backs of late, namely Will Johnson and Mike Sainristil, the latter of whom converted from wide receiver and could pave a path for Moa.
Moa’s admiration for Michigan is also largely attributed to his relationships with Sherrone Moore, Lionel Stokes and LaMar Morgan.
“They’re really transparent with me, I feel like I can trust them and it’s love over there, for sure,” Moa said.
Moa will be in Ann Arbor for his official visit the weekend of June 13.
Top DB target could see himself fitting in at Michigan
2026 three-star cornerback Jaziel Hart is one of the more undervalued players Michigan is going after in the class. The Wolverines are currently battling Penn State for Hart’s talents, a decision which is expected to come sometime this summer.
Hart spoke with On3’s EJ Holland ($) and explained why Michigan is one of his top options.
“Michigan is a top contender because I see what they are doing with the program. I see that I can get playing time as a freshman,” Hart said. “They have people who love to compete and be the best. They want to succeed. Michigan is a great academic program. The people want to put me in a place to succeed.”
Even without Jim Harbaugh spearheading the program, the Wolverines’ brand, prestige and now seemingly unlimited NIL make this as enticing a destination as ever.
“Will Johnson going to the NFL definitely caught my eye. I feel like I can play like him from an IQ standpoint. That whole scheme is really based on IQ. You don’t have to play with insane speed. You have to have a great IQ and technique. I see myself fitting into that,” Hart said.
Hopefully for Michigan, it can see Hart try to fit into that mold soon.
Quick hitter
- 2026 three-star linebacker target Markel Dabney committed to SMU over Michigan and others on Tuesday afternoon.
- 2026 five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell committed to Miami on Tuesday afternoon. He once had Michigan on his top list, but then narrowed things down further to Miami, Georgia and Oregon.
