Zion Robinson, one of the many recent players to commit to Michigan’s 2026 class, recently explained why he picked Ann Arbor as his college football home. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
We have officially hit one of the slower times in the college football recruiting calendar. The NCAA’s recruiting dead period window now includes all of July, which means no visits, no BBQ at the Big House, and no screenshots of plain hot dogs and chicken tenders that rival fans can make fun of.
Recruiting is seemingly never slow for Michigan, especially considering the absolute heater Sherrone Moore and company have been on over the last month. Let’s kick off today’s Recruiting Roundup talking about one of the latest commits.
Zion Robinson discusses committing to Michigan
It’s been a few weeks since 2026 four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson committed to Michigan , and to echo my colleague Sam Bernardi , he has a chance to be a shining star in Ann Arbor.
Robinson — rated 132nd overall in the 2026 class — told On3’s EJ Holland ($) why the Wolverines are a perfect fit for him.
“Michigan had everything I needed,” Robinson said. “It’s a top academic school and a top football school. They had a great NIL package, too. They had the full deal for me. That’s why it felt like home. To be honest, it was between Stanford and Michigan. It was a long process, but I talked about it with my family for a while, and we came down to a decision the day before I announced it.”
The Mansfield, Texas native said wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy made him a top priority.
“(Bellamy) made it very clear that he wanted me,” Robinson said. “He showed a bunch of love throughout the process. I love the way he coaches. He’s a great coach. He’s very relationship based. He’s not just going to yell at you. He’s going to show you how to do things. I love that he does that.”
Robinson, four-star Travis Johnson and three-star Jaylen Pile round out Michigan’s haul at the wide receiver position in the 2026 cycle.
Four-star ATH still interested in Michigan with decision coming soon
Michigan is pursuing 2026 four-star athlete Salesi Moa just about as much as any recruit. He took an official visit to Ann Arbor in June and is nearing a decision.
In a recent interview with On3’s Holland ($), Moa discussed how he wants to play on both sides of the ball. In doesn’t sound like he’s getting an opportunity with the Wolverines to play offense, but he will have some chances to shine in the return game
“Michigan talked to me a little bit about offense and about returning (kicks and punts),” Moa said. “For certain schools, it’s a big factor. Honestly, I like playing receiver more. But I know Michigan develops safeties for the NFL, so I would want to play defense at Michigan.”
Moa, the top-ranked player in the state of Utah in the class, is down to Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee, Utah and Washington. He is set to make his decision later this month after pushing back his commitment date, which was originally set for this weekend.
“I’m looking for development, a good education and a place that can help me become a good man,” Moa said.
2027 local ATH discusses Michigan recruitment
It’s important to make local recruits feel like a priority, and that appears to be the case with Michigan and Darryl Flemister , a 2027 athlete coming off a state championship appearance with Marin Luther King High in Detroit.
Flemister was on campus twice this spring , and head coach Sherrone Moore has reached out to him more than any other staff member, which the Detroit native appreciates.
“It shows me they actually have interest in me,” Flemister told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($) .
In terms of his role at Michigan, Flemister said he’d want to focus on one side of the ball. He’s also taken notice of all the Michigan defenders that have gotten drafted in recent years.
“I’m a good man-to-man corner,” Flemister said. “I can play zone, too. I think I can fit their scheme, and I’m just a dawg, and they breed dawgs at corner and defensive back.”
Flemister was last in Ann Arbor for a spring practice. Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri have also showed interest, but it sounds like the Wolverines have the advantage so far.
