Four-star safety speaks on why he flipped from Baylor to Michigan
It always feels satisfying to get a player to flip to your school, especially when that player plays a key position. Four-star safety Jordan Deck flipped from Baylor to Michigan earlier this week. and he spoke with Rivals’ Chad Simmons ($) about why he flipped.
“Michigan is honestly always where I wanted to be,” Deck told Rivals. “When I was on my official visit, it felt right. Baylor is a great school, but I rushed my decision a little when I committed. After thinking about it, I knew Michigan was where I wanted to be.”
As is often the case with flips like this, the relationships Michigan’s coaching staff has developed paid dividends.
“Coach (LaMar) Morgan has been great,” Deck said. “He has recruited me as hard as anyone and he stayed with me through and through. When I was on my visit, he showed me his plan for me and how I can play all over the secondary for Michigan. He talked with me about the good and the bad and how he can make me better. How coach Morgan recruited me and how he coaches really helped with my decision.”
Deck is the third member to commit to Michigan’s secondary, joining four-star cornerbacks Andre Clarke and Dorian Barney.
2027 pass rusher loves Lou Esposito’s intensity in practice
Brian Demoss picked up an offer from Michigan last fall during his sophomore season. The Wolverines aren’t the only school that appears to be interested, as the 2027 edge also has offers from schools like Florida, Washington, Indiana, Kansas and Nebraska.
On the 247Sports composite , Demoss ranks as a three-star, rated 450th in the class, 42nd among edges and 11th among recruits from Illinois. The Chicago native already has great length at 6-foot-5.
During his first college visit in Ann Arbor, Demoss saw Michigan blow out Northwestern and got to meet J.J. McCarthy’s parents. He was on campus again this summer, and he feels like Michigan is prioritizing him.
“Michigan has been, I would say, recruiting me the hardest out of all the schools,” Demoss told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). “I like the environment, the intensity in practice and the coaches as well, building a relationship with them.”
Expanding on that intensity, Demoss spoke highly of defensive line coach Lou Esposito, who has been on fire in the 2026 class and landed four-stars Carter Meadows , Titan Davis , Julian Walker , Alister Vallejao and McHale Blade , and three-star Tariq Boney .
“What I like is the intensity he brings in practice,” Demoss said. “When I went down there for spring practice, I noticed how some guys were messing up, and he got on them about it, but it wasn’t in a bad way. It was healthy, good encouragement.”
Demoss said he wants to return to Michigan this fall and continue to build relationships with “each and every coach I meet.”
