In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we discuss a Miami LB commit who wants to visit Michigan this fall, and an OL commit helping recruit a five-star.
The college football season is right around the corner, and Sept. 1 — the first date where schools can directly reach out to high school juniors — is almost here. But before that, we have plenty of recruiting news to get to.
In this edition of the Recruiting Roundup, we’ll touch on a Miami linebacker commit who wants to visit this fall, an offensive line commit helping to recruit a five-star prospect, and more.
Four-star LB wants to visit U-M again
The Wolverines have not been afraid to recruit players who have already committed to other schools. Sometimes attending a game at the Big House is all a player needs to experience to change their mind.
Michigan is attempting to flip 2026 four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell, who has been committed to the University of Miami since November. Campbell re-affirmed his commitment in a recent interview with On3’s Chad Simmons ($) , but still is hoping to travel to Ann Arbor this fall.
Despite his commitment, Campbell said he is “open to everything.” Michigan is one of the schools on the radar of the linebacker ranked 68th among all players and fourth among linebackers on the 247Sports composite.
“Me and (linebackers) coach Brian Jean-Mary are talking or texting every day,” Campbell said. “I had a great visit up there, I got some time with him and we are locked in now. We have that connection and I will be back at Michigan for a game. I could end up taking an official visit up there too.”
Constant communication is always a good thing, especially when it comes to a player committed elsewhere. We’ll keep you updated if something changes in this recruitment.
OL commit helping recruit five-star OL
Sometimes recruiting pleas from coaches fall on deaf ears, but most recruits tend to listen to their peers.
Five-star offensive lineman Andrew Babaloa has been a top target for the Wolverines all summer long , and Sherrone Moore and company are pulling out all the stops, including having offensive line commit Kaden Strayhorn help recruit him and other players.
“We have a group chat, so I talk to (fellow Michigan commit) Avery Gach all the time,” Strayhorn said to The Wolverine’s E.J. Holland ($) . “We’re really working to get (Andrew) Babalola. I’ve been telling him that if you want to be a great offensive lineman, Michigan is where you need to be. He’s the missing piece. Michaell (Carroll) is here now, so I’ve been talking to him about Michigan. I’ve also been recruiting Wu (Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng) . His brother told him if he could do it again, he would go to Michigan. I told him to listen to his brother and come to Michigan.”
Two months after committing, Strayhorn said he still feels confident with his pledge, with the leadership and track record of Michigan’s coaching staff playing a big factor.
“Coach Moore was the best offensive line coach in college for two years in a row,” Strayhorn said. “I love his pedigree as an offensive line coach. What’s better for an offensive lineman than for the head coach to be an o-line guy? Coach Newsome is following in his footsteps. He was on me heavy when he got the job. They were really consistent.”
Strayhorn is likely Michigan’s center of the future, even though he’s expected to play tackle at IMG Academy this upcoming season.
“I feel super comfortable with it,” Strayhorn said. “Center is the position I was made to be. I’m not a tackle. I don’t think it will be too difficult. I’ve gotten a lot of reps at center. I’ve also been training with (former NFL center) Charles Bentley. I think it’ll be fine.”
Hopefully the badgering in that group chat can lead to a commitment or two.
Three-star UCF commit picks up Michigan offer
Cameron White, a 2025 three-star linebacker who committed to UCF last month, recently picked up an offer from Michigan.

White, rated in the top-700 on the composite, has also picked up offers from Colorado, Nebraska and Oregon, among others . He’s also visited Louisville, NC State , Syracuse and West Virginia this summer.
Like Campbell, perhaps getting White on campus can help flip his commitment for Brian Jean-Mary and the Wolverines, who currently hold a commitment from one player — three-star Chase Taylor — at the position in the class.
