Sherrone Moore and staff are landing commit after commit, including a top flight defensive end who is now detailing why he committed to the Michigan Wolverines. That in more in this edition of the Recruiting Roundup:

The fireworks keep on coming for the Michigan Wolverines, as they have landed several players over the last week alone. With more good news possibly on the horizon, there is plenty to be excited about if you’re a Michigan fan.

In today’s Recruiting Roundup, we’ll dive into a couple of the latest commitments, as we are now hearing from them following their announcements.

Carter Meadows discusses he decision to choose Michigan

Carter Meadows is among the top pass rushers and a five-star prospect in the 2026 class, according to On3. He announced his commitment to Michigan on Sunday, and is now detailing why he picked the Wolverines.

“I think it was a mix of on the field, off the field things,” he told On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($). When I went up there for my OV the culture I could feel in the building was different and I want to be part of it.

“I think their history of winning and tradition and upholding their standard of excellences in all walks of life, on the field, off the field that’s what makes it special.”

Relationships also played a big part in Meadows’ decision.

“Coach Espo, Coach Moore, Coach Wink, I’d love to play in that NFL style defense and I have a great relationship with all of them and that’s what sealed it,” Meadows said.

Esposito is pulling in a monumental defensive line class. In addition to Meadows, Esposito has landed four-stars Titan Davis, McHale Blade and Allister Vallejo, to go along with three-star Tariq Boney.

Four-star CB reacts to committing to the Wolverines

On Monday, 2026 four-star cornerback Andre Clarke announced his commitment to Michigan. The Top-200 overall prospect is the second defensive back to commit to the Wolverines, along with four-star corner Brody Jennings.

Clarke broke down his commitment with 247Sports’ Brian Dohn ($).

“What makes it special is it’s Michigan,” Clarke said. “They’ve always been one of those top teams in the country every year. I know they had a down year last year but Michigan’s always been one of the top dogs.”

Another big reason he chose Michigan is because of the plan that LaMar Morgan and company have in place for him. Many services have him listed as a safety, but he will be playing the cornerback position in Ann Arbor.

“The fit and the scheme for me, talking to coach Morgan in the meetings and showing me what they do, I just feel it fits me the best of all the schools I talk to,” Clarke said. “Playing that boundary corner, playing man-on-man most of the time, and really manning up on the backside receivers fits me.”

Local 2027 TE discusses interest in U-M

Anthony Cartwright hails from Detroit Country Day school and is currently a four-star prospect and No. 193 overall in the 2027 class. He visited Ann Arbor recently and spoke highly of his visit and Michigan overall.

“It was great catching back up with everybody on the team and staff,” Cartwright told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($). “I have been there multiple times, so nobody feels like a stranger anymore when I’m there. I got to spend a lot of time with all of the coaches, but most of my time was spent with coach Casula. We spent a lot of time watching film and talking about how I would fit into their scheme. I also got to spend some time with coach Moore and he told me that I am a high priority for the team. It means a lot knowing that because it shows me that their interest level in me is very high and that I could play a big part in the team’s success.”

Cartwright, who holds over 35 scholarship offers, also spoke about how the Michigan offense will be something he focuses on when making a decision.

“I love the way that their offense is designed because it is designed for tight ends to be able to make any type of play at any time, especially with coach Casula being the co-offensive coordinator now,” Cartwright said. “I know he’s going to want his tight ends to eat.”

Looking ahead, Cartwright plans to make the short trip back to campus in the coming months to see a game at the Big House.
