A top DL target has canceled his official visit with LSU to see Michigan this weekend instead. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
We’re into the first week of June, and with that comes dozens of visits, with several talented recruits coming to officially visit Ann Arbor later this month.
There’s plenty of recruiting news to come to this month. Let’s get into the latest updates, starting with a defensive lineman who switched an upcoming visit to Michigan.
DL cancels LSU official to visit Michigan instead
It’s always a good sign when a player cancels an upcoming visit to head to your school. That’s exactly the case with 2026 three-star defensive lineman J.J. Finch , who was supposed to visit LSU this weekend but will be at Michigan instead. Lou Esposito has been pushing hard on the recruiting trail.
“Espo has been recruiting me since the beginning,” Finch told On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($) . “He was one of my first offers. Not ruling out LSU, but decided to move my visit to Michigan this weekend.”
Finch was in Ann Arbor for the spring game, saying he had a good trip.
”It was a good environment,” Finch said. “A lot of fans in the stands. The way the coaching staff all vibes together.”
Finch still has visits set with Tennessee and Miami, and he is trying to get to LSU at some point.
Michigan, Tennessee the top schools to watch for five-star RB
Michigan has been pursuing Savion Hiter for a while now. He put Michigan on his top list this winter, and despite a recent visit to Ohio State, On3’s Wiltfong said Michigan and Tennessee are leading the pack for the Mineral, Virginia native.
“Michigan and Tennessee…that’s who I’m watching”@SWiltfong_ says despite a visit to Ohio State, there’s two teams at the top for No. 1 RB Savion Hiter

“Those are the programs I’m watching closely right now, I think those are the two programs will take that recruitment up a level from an NIL standpoint,” Wiltfong said. “I think Savion Hiter is the No. 1 player overall on Michigan’s board.”
Wiltfong isn’t the only one who thinks Michigan is in the lead here. 247’s Tom Loy ($) recently said there is major buzz surrounding Hiter with both Michigan and Ohio State.
As my colleague Sam Bernardi broke down recently, Hiter is one of the most important recruits officially visiting this month. With options running out for the Wolverines, it’s imperative they knock his official visit out of the park next weekend.
OL speaks on official visit last weekend
Several talented players were in Ann Arbor for official visits last weekend , including 2026 three-star offensive lineman Jax Tanner . The Idaho native got the chance to see student housing, learn about the nutrition staff and dive into the athlete support teams on the visit.
“It was unbelievable to say the least,” Tanner told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($) . “It was kind of cool to see a little bit more of the ins and the outs of not only a player on the field but being a student athlete and being a player off the field. It was pretty cool to just be able to have those experiences and have those awesome interactions with different people in the city of Ann Arbor.”
Tanner is viewed as a true center, and it’s important to note he plans on taking a two-year mission trip after graduating high school, meaning he won’t be at his future school until 2028.
“Michigan’s high on my list because we got to learn a little bit more of the academic side of things, see a little bit more of the lifestyle of a player and it was fun for sure,” Tanner said.
Tanner has his recruitment narrowed down to Oregon, BYU , Tennessee, Boise State and Michigan.
