Michigan OC Chip Lindsey has hit the ground running on the recruiting trail, and he is making waves with a Top-10 QB prospect. We have that and more in this edition of the Recruiting Roundup:
Things have slowed down a bit on the recruiting trail with the dead period in full swing. But the Michigan Wolverines are still making strides in both the 2026 and 2027 classes.
Chip Lindsey making huge effort for 2027 QB
Offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey has looked at a number of quarterbacks in the 2027 class, but has seemingly developed a tight relationship with four-star Keegan Croucher . At 6-foot-3, Croucher is the 10th ranked quarterback in the class and has garnered interest from other top schools like Penn State, Miami, Oregon, Ole Miss and more.
In a recent interview with On3’s Holland ($), Croucher mentioned how Lindsey was highly complimentary of his game when he saw him throw for the first time this spring.
“(Lindsey) came by and watched me go through a session,” Croucher said. “He said I was very impressive. It was good seeing him. We have a good relationship. I’m looking forward to continuing to build it in the future.
“He said that I’m a tall pocket passer with a live arm. He likes that I get the ball out quick. I can move around in the pocket. I think that’s what he wants in his offense — a pro-style quarterback who can move. He coached Drake Maye, and I think I can be in a similar position.”
Croucher, who has already visited Michigan three times in the past, is looking forward to getting back to Michigan for a game this fall.
“Coach Lindsey said he wants to get me back on campus soon,” Croucher said. “He told me he wants to get me in front of coach (Sherrone) Moore, so I can start building more of a relationship with him and take the next step in the process. Seeing a game will be fun. I’m excited to get back out there.”
CB details why he committed to Michigan
2026 four-star cornerback Andre Clarke committed last month, and now he is revealing why he chose Michigan. He discussed that with On3’s EJ Holland ($).
“I just felt like it was the best fit for me,” Clarke said. “I got to go up there and chill with the players and be around the coaches. I could see it was the best fit for me. The official visit was important for me because I got to see who they were as people. That played a big part.”
Head coach Sherrone Moore and defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan played vital roles in Clarke’s recruitment.
“The main thing about coach Morgan is he’s really smart about the game,” Clarke said. “He has a lot of knowledge. I feel like when I get there, he’s going to coach me up to be the best I can and give me all the knowledge he has. Coach Moore is my dawg. He’s wants to develop me when I get there. That’s what I like about him.”
Michigan fans surely hope Clarke can be a game changer for years to come. Clarke feels confident lining up to play for defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.
“It’s definitely going to be a blessing to play for coach Wink,” Clarke said. “He’s coached some of the best players to ever play football. I know I can play that boundary corner on the backside and lock things up. I’ll play anything, but I feel like corner is where I best fit at.”
The 6-foot-1 Clarke fits the mold of what Martindale looks for in a boundary corner. With some work in the weight room, Clarke has the goods to become the next big name in the Michigan secondary.
Lou Esposito’s son explains why he chose Michigan
2027 offensive lineman Louis Esposito gave a verbal commitment to the Wolverines this past weekend. The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder is the son of defensive line coach Lou Esposito.
Esposito spoke with On3’s Holland ($) to detail his commitment.
“I’ve always been taught people make the place, and I think Michigan has one of the best cultures, one of the best atmospheres in all of college football,” Esposito said. “I’ve been a Michigan fan since I was growing up. It’s just a dream come true to be able to say I have a Michigan offer.”
Additionally, Esposito told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong ($) how he is excited to go up against the unit that his father coaches in Ann Arbor.
“I think it’s going to be sweet,” he said. “Having that type of connection with the program already is huge.”
“It’s a great place. I’m excited. And they develop o-linemen really well. I’m ready to get to work. They’ve developed good offensive linemen for a long time and I’m ready to be the next one.”
Esposito is Michigan’s first commitment in the 2027 class.
